More data: I've been seeing other odd electrical issues with Vlad lately. My low-beam warning light came on the other day for no reason. My radar detector is rebooting when I hit the brakes (again; it used to do this, but i moved it to a dedicated circuit) or turn on the windshield wipers...
So I put a volt meter on the battery and it looks like the alternator that I refurbished when I built the motor is failing. I'm seeing ~12-13.5 volts max. I don't think it's the regulator (it's 4000 miles old) but I didn't have enough time to really test to see if I was getting voltage drop at 1500 rpm when turning shit on like Bentley's said. My running assumption is my attempt to refurbish that alternator didn't succeed...
This makes me wonder if the ABS issue is caused by under-voltage as well.
I'll pull the alternator this weekend and get it tested and then decide what to do. In the meantime, I'm going to try to source a backup alternator regardless...

I pulled my alternator and had it tested. It tested almost identically to how it did before I rebuilt it and after I rebuilt it. It is working fine. So the under-voltage problem is being caused by something else. May or may not have anything to do with this ABS problem I'm having.

Reproducing the ABS light coming on is super simple:
- start car
- slowly rev engine above about 1300 rpm
- light comes on
However, driving around normally it will rarely, if ever come on. It does regularly pulse the ABS when coming to a stop (e.g. at a stop-light). Light does not come on in this case.
I pulled the cap off the ABS unit, pulled both relays and the plug. Cleaned all contacts.
With my son at the wheel, I can clearly feel the blue relay click when he raises engine speed above 1300 and the ABS light comes on.
I guess I gotta bite the bullet and actually test the sensors. The sucky thing is CJ just left for the airport to go back to school so I don't have a spare set of hands...
