I was just asking if you were. No sense in hiding it. I was being a bit of a smart ass with it... but I wasn't labeling you a liberal. And I can understand not being "locked" in to any particular party or cause.stuartinmn wrote:See, right here is the problem...there seems to be this insistence on making everyone fit into some specific category, whether it be liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican or whatever, and then they're supposed to rigidly follow the 'rules' of their category. Are you a liberal?
I'm not a member of any political party. I tend to be conservative on some subjects, liberal on others, and moderate on most everything else, but I'm not locked into any one mindset about how the world should be.

Chickens. Where's that vaunted 'tolerance' that libs and self-proclaimed moderates are always bragging about?
Yeah. Thought so. Rolling Eyes
And just where did I say anything about political polarity? I despise the man for his half-truths, muckraking, back stabbing, inflammatory Bullshit. He is a perfect example of everything that is wrong with television pseudo-news.
Someone took offense at me calling him 'Fat", um, have you ever looked at him? Yup, he's fat. Someone took offense at him being called "Drug soaked" and tried to deflect by citing others who were not even being addressed, again using political polarity as some kind of litmus test of the statement. His drug abuse and attempts to evade being caught are documented. Oh and I'm totally sure he is clean now. At least no one found him being an "Addle prated idiot" an untruth though.
Of course what would I, an unwashed, ignorant "Liberal" know about such a a great man.
If I get in a customer's car and Limbaugh happens to be on the radio (which happens pretty regularly), I'll give it a few minutes just to see what he says (mostly so I can be informed when I justify my dislike for him), but more than that and I want to Van Gogh my ears. Hours or days of listening would be a fate worse than death. Honestly though, I could say the same thing about some of the whiners on Air America, which I don't listen to either. NPR & BBC FTW.
I never heard of this jackass so I took the challenge.... (actually I just youtubed for a while).
Can someone send a link to one of his rants that has any sort of technical merit?, any sort of persuasiveness?
As far as I can see he is just a shit disturber spreading lies, and causing unrest. Why would anyone want to pay him to do this?
I have seen highschool debaters that cover things more professionally than he does.

I love how everyone who hates him has never listened to his program for any length of time. They just say, I heard him a few times for a few minutes and I hate him. He's a fucking entertainer, its not a news program people...of course its not going to be unbiased! He's the self-proclaimed Coice of Conservatism. Why is that so hard to understand?
Funny that he has the #1 show in the country....he must really suck ass....

A question. I have heard it stated a couple of times that he has the #1 show in the country. Is that #1 in am talk radio? #1 in all media? #1 in syndicated radio? Does it include TV? Not picking. Just curious.Kyle in NO wrote:I love how everyone who hates him has never listened to his program for any length of time. They just say, I heard him a few times for a few minutes and I hate him. since when does the choice of conservatism involve total lack of factual conversation.. LOL
If there is some worthwhile way for me to listen to him and see if he has any merit.. post a link.
I cant get him on local radio, and I never heard of him before. Not so sure about number one.... how do you expect me to listen for hours on end. The minutes that I tried were unbearable.
Common.. send the evidence.. dont join his band of bubble heads without some meat.... Give me reason to believe.....

The number of Limbaugh listeners has been hotly debated since the 90s. It is said that Limbaugh himself created the numbers as there are no accurate metrics to back the claims. Here is an article on the subject. I have read them before, but this was an easy find via google. I of course am not disavowing the fact he has a solid base of listeners. I just take issue with such grandiose, bulls**t claims never mind via Wiki.Kyle in NO wrote:Quoted from Wikipedia:

Well said. Most people give up listening to Limbaugh because they take what he says a little too seriously. It takes some time to get used to his sense of humor and get past some of the stuff he does just to annoy certain people. I haven't heard Levin's show, but I did just buy his book. Awesome stuff so far.oldskool wrote:Grow a pair and man up to real straight forward thinking! Limbaugh is an entertainer, but informative. Mark Levin is the real deal and quite good. edit: Also, I love the segment of Hannity's show where he plays the messages on the Hate Hannity Hotline. He is a goofball most of the time, but those messages are priceless.

Mark Levin sat in for Rush the other day and it was his best program yet.

The thing about trees killing people... probably from Rush's schtick making fun of "environmentalist wackos" hating on SUV's and other non-politically correct things. Example; a typical news item will say something about someone being killed by a SUV. Rush responds that they make it sound like the SUV did the deed of its own accord. (he does a much better job of telling something like that.) That's the problem of only listening to little bits of his programs; you don't get a feel for his sense of humor nor his regular targets of ridicule, and the humor in what he says.Mike W. wrote:I listened to him for a while back in the 90's. He is entertaining and personable on air. He'd probably be good to have at a BBQ, somebody with the gift of gab. But I found him to be the master of the half truth. What he said would nominally be correct, but what he didn't say made all the difference in the world. Now this isn't a quote, so don't suggest it is, but as an example, if a redwood tree fell on someone in a national park, he would rant about how trees and national parks are killing people. He is a successful entertainer, but I really wonder if he believes half of what he says, or if he's just laughing all the way to the bank.

Excellent observation!! Name-calling is the last desperate act of ignorance...trying to run and hide.Geerhed wrote:Many of you are giving glib, tired replies right out of the Liberal Playbook.
Don't like him? Name call! Call him fat, call him drug-addicted, just don't call him out on substance!
A few things I've noticed about a lot of liberals (I'm a teacher, so I work with lots of them):
1) They believe they care about the Earth and its populations more than Conservatives, who they believe want to scorch the Earth, rape it for its minerals, kill all the old folks, and subjugate the minorities.
2) They think they're smarter than non-Liberals.
3) If one doesn't agree with their opinions, they often resort to name-calling: Homophobe, Nazi, Fascist, Fat.. anything will do. Again, avoid substance at all costs and go right to the ad hominem attacks.
As for Rush, he's about as far out on the right wingtip as one could be, and still be on the plane. (Much like Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi are on the other side) Although he often hits the nail directly on the head his approach is a bit coarse and inflamatory, I prefer the delivery of Lou Dobbs and Glen Beck.
Huckabee also has some excellent commentary about our current state of affairs that makes one think....

For one, he hasn't been on television for ten years or more, so not sure what that's referencing. The "muckraking, backstabbing, & inflammatory bs" is pretty subjective, but I'd like you to point out the half-truths; the man puts every word he says up on his website, so it shouldn't bee too difficult to prove. The political polarity is pretty easy to identify, especially with the elitist "I'm smarter than you so don't confuse me with facts or make me confront my prejudices" attitude about what folks who disagree with you have to say. So much for open-mindedness; too much to expect I guess.Coldswede wrote:And just where did I say anything about political polarity? Fat? Pretty sophomoric insult to be throwing around. Drug soaked? Whatever. Funny how any other left-wing celebrity gets a pass on stuff like that and is forgiven without even asking for it. Limbaugh has admitted his problem, got treatment, overcome it, and moved on. Too bad folks like you can't. As for the "addle prated idiot" jab, if you think it's true, well, sometimes it's necessary to consider the source of the insult. Perhaps it takes one to know one.Coldswede wrote:Someone took offense at me calling him 'Fat", um, have you ever looked at him? Yup, he's fat. Wow, just Wow!
For someone who is so insistent on the truthfulness of Rush Limbaugh. You seems to have a real blindness to the basic truth he IS fat. While calling that out may not be in the highest realm of politeness (And when did that ever concern Limbaugh?) It does not negate the truth of the statement. You insist on dragging "Left wing celebrities" into your defense of his drug addiction. Rush Limbaugh is/was a drug abuser. Rush Limbaugh is the topic of discussion not unidentified "left-wing celebrities" Everyone else has to face up to their past actions why not him. If you don't believe that, then miss a few mortgage payments and see how long your past actions are used a predictor of your future actions.
As for "Addle Prated" I guess it all depends on your tolerance for verbal diarrhea. Limbaugh is simply in it for the Benjamen's, he couldn't care less about anyone but himself. He stirs up peoples basic fears and mistrusts to build a base for which he gets paid. He does, admittedly have a knack for finding a sensitive cord with some people whom take his words as a truth.
"Perhaps it takes one to know one?" Okay, that's the apex of debate reply. I've been totally bested.[/quote]
I'll concede the word "Media" should have been used instead of "Television". Your reply insinuating the fact he puts everything he says online makes his "Facts" true? The Internet has more than it's share of con artists, liars, scammers and ignorant fools. Being online is hardly a proof of accuracy and integrity. Where did I or anyone else say I/they were smarter than you etc? I suggest you are only reading these "Elitist" statements into existence because you got caught in a silly post and now your willing to defend it to the point of absurdity. For one, he hasn't been on television for ten years or more, so not sure what that's referencing. What's so hard to understand a simple statement like "Clinton was a draft dodger."? Doesn't seem so difficult to comprehend a simple sentence. You are a hoot. Please chain the logic together that explains your response to begin with. A number of negative comments were made about Rush (fat, loud, druggie, and a draftdodger). The comment was made that the description that he was fat and a drug user were sophmoric. I asked is it sophmoric that the was called a draft dodger as well. Logical response might have been. Yes it is sophmoric, or no i'ts more serious. Your response was" Bill Clinton was a draft dodger'. Please tell me what that was supposed to mean in the context of my comment. Most fifth graders do indeed know enough not to repsond to a question that was not asked.stikrz wrote:What's so hard to understand a simple statement like "Clinton was a draft dodger."? It appears that no party has a monopoly on proper ethics and sound decision making.....as recent events have proven again! Long lists of failures include many from both parties. The destructive partisanship, lying and backdoor dealings in Washington must change or we're doomed as a free nation! Sadly, I'm not optimistic about our chances, I fear the heads in Washington are irreversibly lodged in that dark scary place that already seems to be overflowing with shit.m-racer wrote:Yep and Rumsfeld and Cheney none of whom I have any use for. Personally, I'd like to get the problems fixed sometime before the AFT comes collecting guns....because after that it's going to be too fucking late! Remember that a government that has nothing to fear from it's un-armed population does whatever it wants to.
We vote for our reps in less than 2 years, lets all promise to do a better job of researching the prospects.
