That is a wee bit harsh, C.R., and not what he said, either. I don't know that I agree with it, but it is a point worth discussion, not derision. If you are not making a positive contribution to the nation, why should you get to help make leadership decisions? There are legitimate reasons that people have to go on government assistance, but if your net lifetime contribution is in the red I would probably prefer that you didn't vote.C.R. What do you want to go back to, only landowners vote? Let's refine that a little bit. Only landowners who are the majority owners of the property get to vote. What's your home worth? How much does the bank own? Who gets to vote; you or your mortgage lender?
Go sit in a corner to ponder how stupid you are.

While that may be the harsh way of putting it, I do agree with him. All humans regardless of race, sex, and financial standing are allowed to vote, and should have the rightto do so. I am not a home owner, nor do I make over $30k a year combined income with my wife. My assets don't value more than $10,000. I probably do make more tax refundage than I pay into it. That's not my fault. And it sure as hell ain't welfare.C.R. Krieger wrote:ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?swatterssr wrote:Why are people on welfare allowed to vote? The leadership of this country affects even the lowest of contributors. Also, how would you gauge who can and can't vote? Sounds like Naziism to me.DMNaskale wrote:That is a wee bit harsh, C.R., and not what he said, either. I don't know that I agree with it, but it is a point worth discussion, not derision. How do you figure that getting more money back from the IRS than you put in is not welfare? What is it. It sure as hell is not a REFUND. A refund is getting back some or all of what you paid, not more.
I do not care if you get back all that you pay in as long as you go not get more.
Just my thoughts

The gauge for voters should be as simple as
1. one vote only
2. the dead can not vote, (no absentee ballots allowed
)
3. foreign nationals can not vote OR contribute funds
4. votes from different states from the same individual living or dead are not counted at all.
Not even the 1st one cast.
5. If you are a 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th generation welfare dweller you must qualify to vote by becoming gainfully employed for a minimum 10% of the total time you were sitting on your lazy ass.
6. You MUST understand the platforms of the candidates, no retarded votes in exchange for a bus ride and a meal.
7. ACORN gets eaten by the GIANT SQUIRREL and becomes item #2. No ands, if's, or but's about it.
8. If you can not speak, read & write with proficiency in English you can not vote until you pass a proficiency review. Otherwise you are classified as a #6

So if you get more than you paid in are you gonna bitch about it and say "Oh hey, guys, you paid me too much, don't worry about this extra $1000 for child tax credit, I don't need it, the government does..." BAM! Godwin's Law. At least low contributors are contributing. Anyone that works hard and strives to better themselves is a contributor, even if the tax code puts them on the happy side of the refund equation as they work their way up in the world. No good citizen would choose to take more than they contribute all their life.stikrz wrote:The leadership of this country affects even the lowest of contributors. I just said it is a legitimate question, not that I am going to promote the restriction of suffrage. Right now, children can't vote and prisoners can't vote. Crazy people can't vote. Non-citizens can't vote. So it is not an entirely unrestricted right. But it is pretty much effectively open to all Americans. That is a good thing. But there are people that I personally take a dim view of, and I prefer that they don't vote. Most of them probably don't bother. People that choose not to work, make selfish personal decisions, etc. can still vote and I don't mind talking hypothetically about excluding them from the election process even if it is just bullshit rah-rah conversation. If some parasite goes their entire life sucking off of the rest of us, I doubt they are voting with the best interests of the nation at heart.
Most douchbags that suck off others do not vote, that is right. So for the most part you are right.DMNaskale wrote:BAM! Godwin's Law. At least low contributors are contributing. What about people that use the mortgage interest deduction? Or other tax credits? Should they be banned from voting? What about people that work for companies with government contracts? What about government workers? My god, there are conflicts of interest everywhere! I find it funny that there's only a concern with poor people voting. Ha ha ha. You "conservatives" expose yourself as the most elite of elitists all while complaining about the liberal elite. What a joke.

In this thread hijack about voting rights, who mentioned conservatives, liberals, or concern about poor people voting? Joke? I can't agree with you more! Except for the liberal/conservative thing, but we'll leave that alone!Rich in WI wrote:What about people that use the mortgage interest deduction? Or other tax credits? I'm not saying it is anyone's fault. I have NEVER gotten back more than I put in. If I did would I bitch, no. But I think the system needs to be fixed. So if you get more than you paid in are you gonna bitch about it and say "Oh hey, guys, you paid me too much, don't worry about this extra $1000 for child tax credit, I don't need it, the government does..." Hell no! You won't bitch about it at all!
I would think that the government (IRS) would be able to figure out a way to cut off the refund amount at a maximum of what was contributed. If someone needs welfare then they can use the other programs that are available.

Brad, it is truly sad to see anyone with this much hate in them, I wish you better luck and a change of attitude in FloridaBDK wrote:I am a wussy bitch too I guess....

Obama bought his win? BS!!!
The people freely paid for it for him, with $5,$10, $50 and $100 donations...
The People (and yes some corporations) but over a Million different people gave money to Obama in donations of $200 or less...this says alot about this election, people are and will be tired of the GOP for a long while...

I guess in your world black people shouldn't be allowed to vote either, or latinos, or asians or gays and lesbians or anyone who you don't like or want to blame for the problems in "your world"...
IMO, people with thoughts like yours shouldn't be aloud to vote, because you're anti-democratic...
Let me guess, you're a Republican....
funny how all that runs hand in hand with that party...
Your boy won! Be happy and get yourself ready to enjoy the next administration. One thing is for sure, the issue of racism and affirmative action can now be put to rest with the election of 'the one". I can't wait to see what will happen with reparations settlements. How much are you willing to pay for something that you had no hand in? Especially after your vote empowers the very ones who will want you to pay reparations

This speaks volumes about those who are so piously anti-Obama. This ain't 8th grade bullying threats, but something far different.

It's sad there are so many people who hate America, right here in the USA. And they probably voted, too.

Hell, this should be no shock to anyone who has lived in the real world for more than 5 minutes. And I am sure the pious, condescending liberals will get a lot of mileage out of painting all the angry, frightened conservatives out as conspiratorial revolutionaries planning to take down Obama. Well, you all are coming off like jackasses not worthy of calling yourselves Americans. I was feeling bad that I could not find a political identity this election, but I have come to find bitter solace that I can't be lumped in with either fucked up side.Rich in WI wrote:This speaks volumes about those who are so piously anti-Obama. The true number of idiots that are actually hoping to bring Obama to harm is probably greater than previous elections but still relatively small. But they are out there, with their little reptilian brains warped by hateful bile, and hopefully they will be drawn out of the woodwork by their increasing sense of alienation, so they can be smashed into oblivion like they deserve.
Anyone who was worried that a black man couldn't be elected just because of his color has hopefully reassessed their opinion of America without becoming a gloating douchebag in the process. There are countless ways to spin the outcome of this election and I am sick of hearing them, I simply hope that Obama is up to the task ahead.
Exactly what I have been saying as well BRAVO!Jeremy wrote:You too?
