Get a "Loaded" Springfield 1911 in .45acp. Best bang for the buck in a 1911....no pun intended!tsmall07 wrote:If I ever have to shoot someone, the police will only hear one story. That is for sure!
Anyway, as soon as I'm sure I can afford it I'll be getting a nice Colt or S&W 45. I like revolvers a lot. I want to get a 22 revolver also because they're just so much fun to shoot and cheap as dirt.

Where in the world do you find 400lb deer? That would be the biggest deer ever.
I wonder what the record is for real? I did a quick check and I found that 355 pounds is the biggest white tail in Nebraska history..before being field dressed.
Also, I thought I would add my favorite .22 pistol of all time: The Sig Hammerli Trailside.

Maybe he's talking about Mule Deer. These are larger than white tail.pldlnr wrote:Where in the world do you find 400lb deer? That would be the biggest deer ever.![]()

while the largest whitetail deer on record is 511 pounds
But, that was a typo on my part I meant to type in 300lb deer, which aren't all too uncommon. Plus, a deer is a ton heartier than a human when shot....most wild animals are. That was my point, that anything that was designed to kill a deer was lethal enough to certainly kill a human. Look at it this was check out the energy created by a 1oz deer slug.
Pshaw....automatic pistols are childs play. Try shooting a Kynoch 700 Nitro express, I shot one one day, three times and lived to tell about it.Bimmerguy2002 wrote:you guys wouldnt last 5 minutes in battle with these guns

The rifle was a one off custom made English tropical rifle, cost the owner $432,000.00lbs. Yep almost a million dollars. The ammo cost him over a grand for a 5 shot pac....
Ill see if I can find a video of them shooting it in the UAE.

GUNs!!!!
Why did I not see this topic sooner?
Guns are a right!
Guns are needed; because people are generally stupid and do bad things to good folks who would have no other means of protecting themselves! Especially today; with all the technology we have; you freak'n' get put on hold when you call 911. BY the time the operator asks you for your location the event is over and your family is selling your E28!
Firearm safety and education is #1, but, a locked up gun with ammo in a seperate location with 2 different keys is about as useful as a car with no gas!
If you shoot, it's to make dahm sure that YOU live! Rubber bullets are for riot control, not home defense.
If there are strangers in your home and they are there at 3am. and you did not invite them over. They sure as hell are not there to bring you flowers! Shoot the S.O.B.
If you shoot an intruder that is not bringing you flowers in the middle of the night ....I say shoot to kill! Or live wishing you did! If you are lucky.
So I tell all my friends no midnight surprise visits PLEASE!

So I modified my shotty a bit. I think she looks cute in chrome!!

Nice to see the Springfield fans here. I worked at Sprinfield Armory until i got my new job in January. Great guns, the XD was extremely popular when i was there. Now the gun issue is a topic i don't really want to get into, but remember it is a buisness that employs people and makes alot (ALOT) of money. This is something that gets under my skin because the govenor in my state tried to run the gunmakers in Illinois including Springfield Armory, Rock River Arms, Les Baer, and Armalite away. Les Baer got smart and moved just across the river to Iowa. Let the gunmakers make guns, let people earn a living, let citizens arm themselves as promised in the Constitution, and vote Obama/Biden in '08!!!!!!!

Re: guns
Hey winfred, have you ever done the pistol grip / feed ramp conversions on a Saiga 7.62x39? If so, I'd really like to hear your thoughts on whether you think it's a worthwhile conversion. I've been happy with mine as a shooter despite the 10rnd magazines and dorky sporter stock so I've been considering doing the conversion for some time. From what I've read, Izhmash makes the best stamped receiver AK's, but I'm afraid I'll end up with a Frankengun by the time all of the machining and welding is done to restore the receiver to it's proper configuration.
Thanks,
Re: guns
i've done a assload of saiga conversions, they are the starting point for most of our customs, the standard ramp needs some mods to drop in but nothing major, theres two different trunnions the standard smooth unit and the mil-spec which sneaks into maybe 10% of the guns i've seen, it has about a 1/2" groove inline with the barrel, if you have a groove you don't need to grind off the flat part off the bottom of the ramp, and the saiga has a unique rivet on the left side of the receiver in the trunnion that gets in the way of the ramp, cut about 1/4" off the left side of the ramp (the thin part goes under the barrel) we attach the ramp with a 6-32 screw lock tighted into the trunnion. the only welding needed is if you want to close up the 2 holes on either side of the rear of the receiver from the shitty trigger axis pins, for a trigger i recommend the tapco G2 single hook trigger set, it works, if you want to keep the (annoying to me) bolt hold open latch grind about 2mm off the right side of the hammer where the axis pin goes through it, it's hard to explain exactly how to mod the trigger guard after you drill out the 3 rivets (4mm drill or 5/32 bit) theres a spot weld on one end holding the guard to the plate that you need to get really hot so it'll soften enough to drill through later if needed (some guns need a rivet on both ends so we do em all the same) we remove the guard from the plate on a bench grinder from the bottom side with a good bit of force to heat it up, the plate will twist off easy once you get to the weld, then grind the stepped part off the other end, to install the guard you turn it backwards from how it came and stick the front under the mag latch and rivet the back end. that about covers the meat of the conversion
yes i am very bored to have typed all of that crap
ps it's no frankengun, that would be the saiga 308 bull pup we built as per order (bull pup kit is in no way designed to fit the 308) or the 6.5 grendel conversion we as per order or some of the mutant stuff we do to saiga shotguns, but the really annoying stuff some people cook up to do to the expensive virgin polish kits that are already a pain in the ass to build
pps, you have the narrow mag slot receiver? those suck to turn into a normal mag well, i've only had to do one and i did it on the mill, was not fun as it's more then receiver the trunnion needs extensive work too

winfred,
Mine has the standard unslotted trunnion and accepts a regular double stack AK mag (after grinding down the mag's release tang) so I guess it's not the narrow well variety. Sounds like mine would be a good candidate for conversion. I'm going to bookmark your buddy's web page for when I'm ready to do the conversion. I've got to pay for a respray on the e28 next week so I'm going to hold off on the Saiga for a little longer. Can only fund so many hobbies at once!
Really appreciate the detailed conversion instructions. It gives me confidence that you guys really know what you're doing. I had been considering Tromix and I'm sure Tony's a great guy, but now that I know there's an e28 guy in the biz, I wouldn't go anywhere else!

That kind of thinking will land you in jail!! KILL any INTRUDER / VIOLATOR! Generally speaking most people committing crimes are also LIARS, the last thing you want is the police to hear 2 sides to the story. Your version should be the only one they hear. PROVING your side of the story when there are 2 versions is very risky...... especailly if you enjoy your freedom!stevgtguy wrote:Because it's easier to deal with the cops when you only stun and stop someone then when you kill them and have to deal with all the paperwork, proving self defense, etc.Wildstoats wrote:Not trying to start an argument here but why do you use slugs for home defense? the mossberg stays loaded with slugs and sits by my bed. upgrading to a sig p220 in august!
If you think you'll avoid paper work by leaving the intruder alive you are sadly mistaken, between the courts and the lawyers you'll be butt deep.
I truly hope to never HAVE TO kill anyone, but if you carry you'd better be ready to or you shouldn't own a gun!
A few of my toys:
H&K P7 PSP 9mm, euro magazine release.

Vintage 1920's Colt Vest pocket .25 cal.

This will look familiar if you've seen the "Terminator", it's a AR-180:

H&K P7K3 euro model in .32 cal, one of only 112 in the US. (in .32 cal)

I also have the Walther P-22 with the slide-on laser and extended 5" barrel, a customized Para-Ord P-14 and a Seecamp .32 cal just no pics of them....for some strange reason.
Glad to see so many of us are gun enthusiasts too, I especially like the custom .45s

I'm thinking that a Glock 30 would be a nice balance to your collection. Might want to add a Ruger SP101 for good measure.eurowannabe wrote:That kind of thinking will land you in jail!! I got one. I decided to pull the trigger (pun intended) on a Taurus .357 Magnum. I really like the feel and action of the weapon (and the fact that it is a 7 shot) and the price was right. I might spend some more money on another gun later, but this one is fine for now. I also got a box of 50 rounds (38 special) in the deal, so I can't complain.
On to the pics.
