Why do I keep getting negativity from people on mye28?

Tony,
We all know you thought you were above the E28 scene with your new friend and his toys, but.... :poke:

It's good to have you back.

The search function is sort of strange.

I'm probably poking the wrong fire here, but how come a how to is not like the first sticky on every page?

Call me crazy.

What you talkin' about Willis?

The first car I bought with him was Ron's Alpina B9 clone. That's an E28.
:duel:

When are you ever going to come out to one of my get-togethers? Next time catch a ride with one of the other SoCal guys.

Well said,Tony.Hope most of the board members take it to heart.
C.R. and I at least were around on the newsnet/BMW site,before there was a Roadfly,UUC,etc.,much less mye28.
Don't remember so many family squabbles over almost nothing.Sure could do without them.

Jeremy wrote:Shawn is overly cranky sometimes. He's persnickedy (did I spell that right? ), sometimes ornery, maybe even a touch anal retentive. But he's a human being, and he's a personality on this board. He has friendlier days and less friendly days. So do you. So do the rest of us. I can pretty much guarantee he wasn't trying to insult you. He's typically pretty clever with the insults.
BMWgiant wrote:If you look at Shawn D's posts as helpful and supportive, even if in a belittling manner.. It may be very helpful..

We have called Shawn the "Grammar Police" many times... Although if you have seen, he doesn't go around editing people mispelt words or changing their post to suit proper english just because he has the power to.. He will comment and help you for future posts, but it is rarely taken lightly by new and old members.. Alot of people call him an ass for it, but he is not being one.. Many people need the help with posting so others can comprehend what the hell is trying to be said to receive adequite responses.. Those who take it with a grain of salt will laugh about it, but most like learn in the future.
Thanks, Y'all! I think you two put it pretty well.

EDIT: Bryan -- your explanation and descriptions are the best I've seen for describing the most important aspects of the board dynamics. Don't be surprised to see me plagiarizing or linking to them!

Man!

This is why I sometimes hate reading these forums. Over the past couple of years the petty bickering has gotten outrageous.

Will everybody just quit it! Honestly, not everything needs to be an argument.

Somebody should create a "I can piss further then you" section where this bickering should be moved... That would rock.

Um...yeah...If that's the case, then I nominate myself, Wiseguy, Blake, and Brian as the new Beamters. Get ready for a new, improved, and rather more drunker version of mye28.com.

Make your own poll if you're so sure. See how many friends it makes you. I may not be the most popular guy here, but I'm far from reviled.

About this board...

Post by Enchanter »

I rarely post anymore.. Too much petty BS goes on here. Shawn D likes to play cop (pointing out everyone's flaws).. Jeremy is a nutcase :) He drinks way too much beer. I miss the old Duke Horsepower wars.. Bring em back!! Now, can someone tell me why when I hit the brakes, the OBC display dims!?!?!?

Good nite.

Your flux capacitor is on it's way out. Good luck finding one in a junkyard, and they run about eleventybillion dollars at the dealership. Best just to let it be. ;)

Oh and "Good nite" is spelled "Good night." Hehe.

Enchanter;nice to hear from you in any case.
I had the brake/OBC problem some years ago.Now if I can just remember what the hell fixed it....I think it was Rennie at Redline who did it.If no oneelse here knows,Try him at 954-783=7003 10am to 6pm EST.Tell him Bob G. suggested you call.

Are you joking or are you serious? Assuming you are serious:

If you're such a genius, then why don't you run it?

It's funny, I haven't seen your board name here much, and the first time it pops up is to suggest we get new beamters or whatever they are called.

The part of all this that I find especially annoying is that you are never going to make everyone happy all the time and yet there are "adults" here who, for whatever reason, can't grasp this simple reality and so they kick and scream like small children when they don't get their way. The organizers here do a terrific job running the board and putting on 5erFest each year. Are they perfect? No. But neither am I or anyone else last time I checked. Sooo, where I come out is that if you have constructive comments offered in a spirit of enthusiast comraderie and what-not, then go ahead and offer them. But if you want to whine like a baby because you don't like everything here, then go find someplace else to visit on the internet.

BZZZZZZZT! Incorrect assumption! Tim hasn't been around for awhile, but he is an official Smartass© just like me. "Trust me; I'm a lawyer."

So I go off for a few days and I come back to this? Let me tell you about the trip (a more elaborate, illustrated version will eventually leak out in its own thread, no doubt).

Some guy I know from this board (OK; we also met at 5er Fest briefly.) flew to Florida to pick up a car that I bought from another guy on this board. The paperwork was all in place and the transaction was completed over 1800 miles away. This first guy drove my car (of which I had only seen pictures) the 1100 miles to his home at Memphis. I then hauled my dead red car the 700-odd miles to Memphis to sell to yet another guy from this board who had never seen it - except in pictures. My traveling companion and I were so warmly received (in spite of the fact that it was 105º when we arrived) by these warm and generous people that we are still stunned by their gracious hospitality in opening their home to two guys who could just as easily be axe murderers. I do not hesitate to say that we are all friends, as are a number of others who post here; some of whom I have met in person and some of whom I have not.

For our distaff West Virginian member: Don't underestimate the capacity of this unique group of individuals to forgive, understand, help, and befriend you. There are a very few intractable members with whom you may not get along, but the vast majority are good folks who do not intend to insult or denigrate you and with whom you need not be defensive. So relax and stop expecting insults. They are too easy to find, if you're looking but nearly impossible to see if you're not. ;)

And I'm just confused. :dunno:

This is, granted, the hour of the day when a caffeine drip would prove most useful, but, at the risk of sounding like a moron, I have two questions:

- who is Tim?
- who is the West Virginia member? Must be a woman. Something to do with sewing? (This is due to the use of the word "distaff".)

I am, however, glad that C.R. seems to have had a safe and enjoyable experience with his fellow e28ers. I am going to guess that Mr. Guest was involved, but that's just a hunch. ;)

I only started to part read the first page of posts in this thread but, by crikey, it should have been plainly obvious from the thread title that the OP is a whinging little bitch, having a big wet sookie cry who desperately needs to crack the top off a can of 'Harden the fuck up™'. Everyone who replied in this thread oughta go lock themselves in a room full of mirrors and have a bloody good hard look at themselves, otherwise everytime Shawn has a go at one of my posts on here I'm gonna become the poster-child for whinging cry-baby sooks by starting a thread telling everyone how I've been wronged and need a group hug to restore my self-esteem ;)

Yer only sayin' that because yer like, 12,000 miles away and there's not a chance in hell you'll ever manage to jump her bones ...

rlomba, I screwed up. Misread the attributions. Tim is The Enchanter. Who I (you, actually) quoted, I have no idea. :dunno: WTF is the matter with me these days?

'Distaff' has several alternate meanings, one being reference to a female. Gotta go upload some stolen pictures for a new thread that makes clear Mr. Guest's clandestine doings this month. ;)

These cars are 20-plus years old. The board has been around for, what, six? We are fast approaching the day when every question will have been asked at least once. Everything that could possibly go wrong with our cars will have occurred, and every single part will have been replaced (and written about) by at least one poster.

According to sources, at the EXACT moment the aformentioned event occurs, everyone will automatically lose their post counts, names, avatars, and saved PM's. From that moment forward, MyE28.com will become a faceless, read-only database.

Hurry! E28's are being wrecked, crushed, and breaking down every day. Get your frustrations out NOW while you still have the chance!!!

For the rest of you all, have fun!!!!
