They're just telling you to start a new thread. It's easier if each thread stays on topic, and generally old threads don't get brought up unless there is something new on the subject to be added. If you have something unrelated to the thread, start a new one. If you're just looking for parts, look at the For Sale/Wanted Forums. If you don't know what you need and want to discuss it, ask--in a new thread.
