So how tough is it to find that Pirelli M5 poster?

Specific conversations and info for the BMW E28 M5 and M535i.

The last thing I intended to imply was that quanity somehow equates with quality. My point was that when I'm a newbie on a board I usually don't use my third post to insult an established member. :)

A difficult inference on my part. Point observed, however.

The poster has been sold. Thanks for the several inquiries.

This is an interesting thread that I just read through since it seemed to be popular enough to warrant 2 pages. I can vouch for DeWitt. He's an older regular and is over on bimmerforums to set the 16-year-olds straight about E28 M5 lore and what tasteful mods to put on their '92 525i with 230K on it.

I guess I'll keep my eyes peeled for one of these posters if it ever appears. Seems to be a pretty tight supply and a nice price in this market. :D

On my end of things (the E12 M535i camp) a guy on our M535i list scored an original, dealer promo poster over in the Netherlands where he lived. It was part of a large automobile literature collection and he got it for extremely cheap at an auction. Shortly afterwords, his BMW club had a trip planned to Mobile Tradition to see the car collection and he brought the poster with him. They had no record of it in their files but were very interested in scanning it for their archives. Unfortunately, an effort I made to have my own poster made from the 160 meg scan of the original (with Mobile Tradition approval I was told) was in vain because the scan was so good that it picked up discoloration in the paper due to the poster's age. :bawl:

Here's the picture he sent to the list shortly after he bought the poster. It's a well known picture of the E12 M535i, but I had never seen it with the script underneath. It's roughly 36" by 24" he said.

Hell I'd like to just see that M535i poster. Sounds wikid. Sik. Werd... and a whole bunch of other weird urban ghetto-speak.

Edit: Wait... are we talking E12 M535i or E28 M535i?

You can count me in for one of the Pirelli M5 posters, too. Tell your publisher buddy that you want a commission on all these sales!

Count me in too! Must have. I'm getting old and it is too hard to see the ad.

I'd love one of those Pirelli posters too. I have been searching for years off and on looking for one.

Pirelli M5 poster of what is now my car. Anybody have one?

Post by M5BB »

According to David Harrison of Harrison Motosports in Atlanta, that is his car in that poster when it was new.
Pirelli borrowed, rented whatever from him when he was in VA.
Note: ALL BLACK
I just bought this car this week and I'm looking for a poster.
Anyone have any???

M5 Poster NLA

Post by M5BB »

Just for the hell of it I emailed Pirelli Tires US and ask about the poster.
Gary,

Unfortunately we do not have any of these available. If I ever run across one I will certainly let you know.

Thanks,

Might as well add my 2 cents here.

1. I owned a US M5 before my wife totalled it at the track. That gave me the ability to pick up the Euro, which had just gone on sale. I like the US version and would buy another one. Are there differences in the way it drives and feels on the road? Absolutely, but I don't really view one better than another, just different. Both have their own history and we should be glad BMW brought it over at all.

2. I've had the Pirelli poster hanging on the wall since it was introduced. If I could get another one, I wouldn't hesitate. The colors have gradually faded

M5 ad like the poster.

FYI-
Here's a link to an ad of the same photo as the poster.
It's only 8x10" but nice to hang in your garage or rec room.
