Thanks Blue Shadow and everyone: Update here and photos below, not necessarily in order, but trying:
- Got the car up on rails jack points and hydraulic jack under subframe and or diff.
- Replaced the diff mount
- Got subframe mount bolts out (13mm on the brackets, 22mm on the bushings)
- Spent some time -- patiently -- torching the bushings, changing the hydraulic jack's position, removing rearest muffler hanger, (pm me for my personal saga) -- and got the bushings out.
- Used PB Blaster and time to get the pins out... and sledge hammer etc (pm me for gory details)
- Removed stabiilzer bar and rubber mounts, and detached the stabilizer to subframe "dog bones" (not the subframe dog bones)
- Now work on putting everything back together and feeling like I am in a pretty good place.
As best I can muster at this hour and given DIY status, annotated photos follow here, and again, ask me here in the thread or DM me for discussion on how I got this far, happy to help (and note now that I continued to research other threads as I went along... "on the shoulders of the giants that came before me"...:
Photo essay:
Below: Car is up and starting work:
Below: Old and new diff mounts -- that is probably the main problem with handing/performance overall, but "give a. mouse a cookie..." :
Below: Starting to jigger various ways to support the subframe and diff:
Below: New diff mount in (and removed main bolt later to manipulate diff positioning and "pull" on subframe);
Below, various: Trying to figure out how to manipulate various weight points on subframe to drop the bushing mounts;
Below: Subframe bushings may not be as bad as I thought, but glad to do the "once your in there...":
below: Got the bushings out (another tale, but involved torch and using the weight of the car):
Below: Got the pins out, too (= time, PB blaster, 2lb sledge, weight of car on pins, caution with thread protection using the nut, etc.)
Below are the stabilizer bar, rubber mounts for that, subframe bushings, etc, ready to reassemble... note that I got a used stabilizer rubber mount for cost of a new one, but supplier is sending me new one now... check your parts deliveries upon arrival!!!
And I am missing the extra stabilizer mount piece on one side... previous job did not include.. and that is on order... may take 6 weeks, in which case I will reassemble without it (not effecting performance) and revisit another day.
I will use the bushing tool to insert the bushing into the subframe cylinder... did not use it to get the old bushing out (!)... ergo had to remove pins to get room (hopefully enough) to use the tool with pins out... happy to expain in DMs or here, but hard to get it all down... previous posts have helped!!! Including notes on "don't forget to detatch the diff and exhaust to have enough free fall to drop the subframe".... and "use your hydraulic jack to play the weight of the car against the old bushing, using hydraulic jack at different points on diff, subframe main, and subframe arms the wheels...". Takes some noodling.
And, again, happy to help in DMs or here in this thread.... on to reassembly!!
