Seems slow around here....

When my car was in storage for 5 years, I didn't visit here because it was too depressing, but now that it's out and back on the road, I'm here several times a week. That said, I'm with others in that there's so many resources available here already that I don't find the need to ask as many questions. My car's also slowly becoming well-sorted, mostly thanks to the resources and connections I've made here, so again, just naturally less of a "need," which is somehow kind of sad now that I think about it. I'm also getting into NKs quite heavily, so most of my forum activity is over with that group and 2002 folks these days...lots of questions and very little information available compared to e28s.

One thing for sure is I spend way more time driving the Hartge than I do here and I think there was a time when the opposite was true. The search function is awesome and it doesnt call me names. Nice to see you are still around, Adrian! Too bad all the old regulars from Florida seem to have disappeared... everyone would at least get together once a year or something outside of 5er Fest or Vintage. Which was nice since not everyone could do a roadtrip or had the vacation time.

I don't drive my E28s often and thus not much participation from me. Wish I lived around some mountains, which would definitely give reason to drive the cars more often on some nice roads. E28s are pretty basic, boring looking cars so they aren't worth admiring in a garage as a collectible.

But I do sign in frequently to check on the running of the forum and server. There is a phpBB update which I'm testing out which will allow for better mobile browsing experience with responsive UI, so that might help out those that just use their phones exclusively. Could see a small boost in daily activity, perhaps.

I don’t tinker with the cars too much anymore. Not allowed to really work on them where I live anyway.
I do sneak in an oil change here and there using ramps,but that’s about it.

The e34 is the only one I comprehend these days, and it’s pretty bulletproof.

Adrian and I were just talking about that a couple of weeks ago. He is really the only Florida member I have met and we only met last year at Sebring, we have gotten together a number of times since then.
We talked about this years HSR Classic Sebring this year that maybe more would come. It was my first time there and really enjoyed it.

Good reminder, I need to go back to Fbook and completely remove my account. I put it in 'pause' mode or whatever about 3 years ago but need to do the 'permanent delete'. I'll never go back to it, healthier without.

Regarding slow around here, I'll be contributing more once this new house gets up to snuff. Thinking the shop will get a lift(!) and the E28 will see some typical winter downtime/upgrades. Have been slowly collecting the bits for the Motronic upgrade.

Its gotten slow partially because there just aren't that many of these cars on the roads anymore and even less in daily driver roles. I think a lot also has to do with many of us knowing what breaks and not having to ask for help anymore on a lot of things.

We definitely need to start some meets. There are some guys down toward ft. lauderdale I've met a few times and I know there's a good number of guys toward tampa. When the weather isn't so hot I'm always up for a drive to meet up.

maybe next year when I'm back stateside.

My car hasn't been moved since the end of march except for the wife hitting the raise button on the lift before the hurricane to prevent flooding

The good olde days are gone... but, this is still a great Board with excellent value (when you need it) and entertainment (for the most part). Sorry to not be contributing as much or as often, but I do visit at least once a week (as opposed to many times a day, as I did back in the day). Also, I have an excuse... I'm old )

Like Adrian I have been on this board longer than I can remember. I do not presently have an E 28 but I expect to purchase at least one more in the future. I agree on a get together for the Florida guy's.
Justin I live in Eustis just outside of Mount Dora. Calling anything in Florida Mount is an oxymoron. But if anyone is interested in coming up to Yallaha Bakery I can promise you some really nice twisty back road drives with some change in elevation that will put a smile on your face.
I do drives regularly with the Central Florida BMW Owners group. Mostly younger people (group is led by a really cool gear-head girl) but many with older cars. One member has a 82 320i with over 650,000 miles on it and it looks brand new.
I am still very involved with BMW CCA. After serving as President of Florida Suncoast chapter for 7 years I am now involved the Orlando area's Sunshine Bimmer chapter of BMW CCA as Chapter Secretary.
If you are interested in taking a drive I will be running Sunshine's Car show at Fields BMW in Winter Park on Oct. 29th. You are welcome to attend this is NOT a judged show just a show and shine with some People's Choice awards. All BMW's are welcome.
Like most of you I do not post as much or spend as much time on this board as I once did. BUT I still think this is the best board I have EVER been on and I cherish the friendships I have made over the years.

This exactly. I was gone for about five years while my 528e was in storage, but am back now...I'm sure there's other members in the middle of similar "sabbaticals" from their e28s who will become more active once they're focused on their cars again. And there's always room for new folks =)

Seriously though, it's a great forum and a great bunch of guys, but as more and more of the problems have been solved a dozen times over and there are far fewer on the road than there used to be, unfortunately activity is diminishing.

I can't tell you the last time a saw an e28 on the road around here, There was one on the side of the road but that is gone too. I think the numbers are just dwindling and it's no longer a cheap car.
