Episode Four is horrible. I fell asleep halfway through and it was more interesting. The beginning of the show and the GT3 RS/M4 GTS test was good but after that, it would have been more interesting being stabbed. I will try to finish it I guess but I really don't care now.

I've watched three so far. Three is the best, but none of them make me want to come back for more. Very interesting that the trio themselves can't recreate what they had. Maybe the break screwed it up, maybe the writing is worse (but that wouldn't explain why the performance is). It was starting to go sour in the latter Top Gear years - too contrived, aiming for bigger/ crazier rather than just sticking with a good formula. I think the show hit its zenith at the Botswana episode, and it's been a slow decline since then. And this GT thing isn't helping.

I agree with a lot of what's been said by Tammer, Kohler, and others. I give it a B- at best and that's with a lot of benefit of the doubt because I enjoyed their stuff so much over the years. It feels stale and some of the segments like celebrity brain crash and some other gags aren't hitting the mark. The test track layout is odd with the names of turns and that house near the finish line. I do like their new driver (read a good article about him and his racing career).

My son and I have watched three episodes so far and the Jordan segment was by far the worst followed by Jeremy's driverless car with the guy pedaling inside. Demolishing Jeremy's house was decent.

In summary I would say I'm watching it because of some lingering loyalty to them but the content is pretty forgettable compared to some of the Too Gear stuff they did.

I think the point of the American is to lament the loss of the stig. When they originally came up with the stig character, it was because they tried racing drivers and found that they had nothing interesting to say. They figured that they wouldn't have that problem if their driver was a silent character. Indeed, he will probably be remembered as one of the strongest and most loved silent parts in the history of entertainment.

Agree #4's the best one so far. Think the idea of the American is he hates everything that's foreign, which in a British way is kind of funny but in an American way not so funny.

All that tells me that the people who are complaining about how it's not the same as TopGear have the flawed expectations. There are things they had to reinvent due to rights. There were episodes of top gear that bored the crap out of me.
