Just putting a feeler add out, I just got this in a trade. I have some plans for it, but thought I might see what else is out there.

It's a 1986 e28 528e, 5 speed manual. 142k original miles. Super clean. Has suspension from a 535. Super clean leather interior, with all power options, sun roof.

Nice bmw 535is with euro bumpers, 17 inch style 5 BBS rims and paint job. Restored the leather on the seats car has its small imperfections but over all it is a solid car. No mechanical issues besides that the AC doesn't blow cold I've changed the

I have a 1988 bmw m5. Very well maintained. Interior has been redone. Exterior is very nice. It does have some minor rust here and there. But over all very nice. I have spent a lot of money already. 2 sets of wheels. Stock and e34 m-technic. I have 4 collector cars and no time to enjoy. So I'm selling a few. It would not take a lot to make it 100% again or just enjoy and not worry about every stone chip. I have all services and parts records back to new.

1988 BMW 325i (E30) Touring w/ 450hp LS3 motor and 6spd manual - $23000 (Portland)





With a heavy heart it is time to sell my LS3 E30. This car is absolutely amazing. It's comfortable for long distances, an exceptional cruiser and grocery-getter, and....well the LS3 part doesn't hurt. It's a GT, it's a sportscar, it's just incredible. I've been driving it since 2011 and it has never ever let me down. I was taking enough road trips in it that I sold my newer daily driver and just used the BMW, it does just about everything. It gets 25MPG at 75MPH and will never make you want to drive anything else. It's really hard to have to sell it, but I'm moving to a place without room for it so she's gotta go.

I bought the car as a bone stock 320 Touring from Germany and had the drivetrain from my other car (a 1991 BMW 318iS with the LS3 in it) put in. It's a professionally done swap by a few experienced fabricators and since I bought the motor new, have put about 7000 miles on it. The photos show an MTech1 steering wheel but it has an new MTech2 in it now. Some also show the original wheels, not the black OZ Racing wheels that it has on it now. The car has a sun roof and sport seats that are comfy and just about perfect. Everything works and the speedo was new when the car was built and is accurate to the engine.

Here's a list of some of the upgrades:

-LS3 E-rod kit. This was new and came straight from GM with cats, headers, fly-by-wire pedal, engine, air intake, ECU, and the motor (bought brand new, retailed about $14k).
-Racing diff (3.07 w/ polished gears and solid machined non crush sleeve). Built by a funny car builder to withstand torque concerns (this alone was $1250 and I've got the receipt for it).
-Hurst Drivelines T56 Magnum transmission. 6spd manual, .5 6th gear cruises at about 1000rpm at 6-mph (bought brand new, have receipt).
-Ireland Engineering brake disc/pad kit (have receipt).
-H&R Touring Cup Kit suspension on all four corners.
-Hydroboost from a Mustang Cobra R.
-17" OZ Racing wheels
-Custom 3" exhaust with a crossover. The sounds it makes are intoxicating.
-Custom built radiator. Has never overheated, custom built to fit the car and heat requirements of the motor.


I'm not looking for any trades and the car is available as long as the ad is up. It's fast, it's stable, it's smooth, it sounds amazing. The car is an Alpina White 1981 528i, 5 speed manual. The interior door panels are the original red from '81 but the seats have been reupholstered in BMW OE Cardinal Red - the front seats have been swapped out with Recaro seats set up on the BMW sliders and the rear seat is the stock E12 seat, upholstered with a horizontal pattern to match the Recaros up front. All seats are high-end with French seams. When I installed the seats in 2010, I also installed matching rear headrests upholstered by the same shop. The seats are all in excellent condition, nobody has ever sat in the back and the passenger seat was extremely rarely used.

In 2009 I acquired some professionally rechromed Euro bumpers, BBS airdam, and all new hardware from BMW to install. All the bumper trim was brand new from BMW. At the time, I also replaced most of the exterior trim pieces... C Pillar vents, hood vents, some door mouldings, all 3 headlight grille pieces, etc. Many of these are now NLA and cannot be bought new from BMW. I also have a few pieces still new, uninstalled such as the window trim pieces. The airdam was professionally repair and painted by a high-end custom shop in North Atlanta. It matches great and looks brand new. Please note, I did not wire up the turn signals... I am still using the stock US signals in the front fenders. Condition of the Euro signals is unknown as I never got around to using them.

In 2010 I acquired the next to last brand new old stock Alpina rear spoiler which is installed on the car and in perfect shape.

The car sits on a set of staggered open-lug Alpina wheels, 16x7 and 16x8 with new tires with less than 1000 miles on them.

Other interior upgrades include a NOS Alpina Momo steering wheel, refurbished Alpina shift knob, NOS 80s Blaupunkt head with JL Audio speakers in the front and JL Audio components in the rear deck, powered by a Rockford Amp in the trunk. It retains the correct look with a little more sound, plus the headunit accomodated a 3.5mm jack so you can plug it in to your iPod or cell phone and use the aux function for your music. Various interior pieces have been upgraded to newer condition or replaced with new parts, such as the sun visors.

The suspension was overhauled right after I bought the car in 2007. I replaced the stock set up with new Bilstein Sports (no longer available) and ST sport springs which lowered the car a little. I installed a custom front strut bar, and got a set of freshly powder coated ST sway bars. I have only installed the rear bar so far as the front has very limited clearance and is not easy to install, however it comes with the car. I also replaced various suspension components as needed during the overhaul.

At the same time, I put all new brakes on the car, front and back. It stops well.

I upgraded from the stock E12 cooling system to a more efficient E28 radiator and all the necessary components. I had to go through a few parts multiple times to get it right but the car runs well and does not overheat at all. EVERY cooling component has been replaced with new or like new. All hoses, reservoir, caps, housings, etc.

I installed new spark plugs, 8mm performance wires, and did a valve adjustment to make sure it is running smooth. I have replaced the AFM, air hoses, etc, making sure everything is fresh and up to date from original. The car also has a recent alternator replacement. Additionally, it has an Optima red top that keeps it going during the long breaks.

The rear half of the exhaust was replaced only because I got a great deal on a new OE exhaust. It has a fresh muffler, new tips to match the length of the bumpers, etc.

The Getrag 265 5 speeds shifts well, and it is paired with an upgraded 3.64 limited slip differential. The diff was one of the best upgrades for the car... it really opens it up and makes it fun around town, in the mountains, etc. The car can run with a lot of modern vehicles which is amusing considering the power difference.

Like any old car, especially with the L Jet, it starts cold but warms up quick. I usually let it run for a few minutes then take it easy working my way out of the neighborhood. By the time I am hitting the roads it is warmed up and ready to go. I've owned the car for almost ten years and it's been my favorite old 5er, never let me down once.

That being said, the car is 35 years old and has some things that need to be addressed to be perfect. When I replaced the sun visors, I put a crack in the windscreen when reinstalled the rearview mirror. It has not spread in the 7+ years since but the crack is there. The dashboard is also cracked. I have a good (was crack free last I checked) dashboard for the car that is in climate controlled storage. As stated above, the door panels do not match the newer OE leather, they are a few shades off. I had planned to do custom matching panels but never got around to it. They could simply be dyed to match if it bothers you. The headliner has some stains in the rear and could use a cleaning. The carpet is excellent and the matching Coco mats really stand out. I removed many of the worn our interior plastic liners years ago and never reinstalled them, I may or may not still have them.

On the outside, the car is in pretty good shape. The paint is old but not worn. There are a few small scratches, some rock chips on the front of the hood, but otherwise it is pretty good. The wheels and tires are in great shape, and as I mentioned a lot of the addons and trim are brand new. The antenna has to be manually raised or lowered (can do it from the drivers seat if you wish) to use the radio... I prefer to keep it down for aesthetic reasons.

As mentioned before, the car is mechanically pretty good. No smoking, leaking, etc. When I change the diff/trans with fresh redline it may seap a bit then it stops. The car runs, drives and sounds great. I wouldn't hesitate driving anywhere in it.

I originally bought it with around 150k miles as a commuter. At the time, it was bone stock. I quickly went nuts with the repairs and upgrades and this is where we sit. I have had over a dozen BMWs, some new, some older than this. I was after this car for 2 years and absolutely had to have it, the owner finally caved and sold it to me. I was extremely active in the clubs around the Southeast for years, but bought a home, got married, etc in 2013 and my lifestyle changed. I have seldom driven the car since then. It shows about 154k on the clock now. I try to get it out once or twice a year for some driving, a few periodic trips around the neighborhood in between. I absolutely do not need to sell it, it only cost me insurance (collectors, which means limited driving for me) and small taxes annually. I would not be sad if I had to keep it, but I do wish it would get to a loving home that could pick up where I left off.

For the asking price of $17,500, you get the car and the extras I have listed, plus many more in my spares. Additionally, I have a professional rebuilt M30 B35 motor (later model I6) with the correct ECU and wiring harness (Motronic 1.3) that I intended to put in the car. This motor was built by a reputable (at the time!) shop for over $5,000. It was in a close friends E9 shortly before he parted with the car, it was a powerhouse and ran great, would really make this car killer. That is in my garage and can be negotiated with the car if interested.

My price is negotiable. I will entertain any fair offer, including lowering the price of the car if I were to keep things such as the Alpina wheels (BYOW) or the steering wheel, as examples. These are extremely high dollar items that likely net me more money if I sold them separately. I have well over the asking price invested into this project and these cars are getting more rare and appreciating in value as a result.

Lots of NYers move to FL, or they come down during the winter months and try to sell their beat up cars here. Not really odd in any way. Since the car has been registered in FL since 2000, it seems plausible it could be retired snowbirds that might live here full time. Melbourne isn't a large population center, so I'd be slightly less concerned than if the car was in Miami, for instance. Much of Southeast Florida, Tampa, Orlando-- those areas seem to have an abnormal concentration of scammers and con-artists.

If the car hasn't changed hands by way of a title transfer, there will be no odometer recording. Florida isn't like California, where there are emissions or inspections. I think 1999 or 2000 was the last year the state conducted emissions testing.

The engine picture is of an M88 in an E28 and shows up in multiple places on the internet, so it is safe to say it is not of the car for sale.
