Unclogging windshield washer nozzles

And.. they're already clogged again.

I went for a drive, about 100 foot after I got on the road I decided the pull the wash stalk and I saw them quit after a second like the reservoir went dry.

I poked and prodded with the sewing pin and got one to spit/sputter and start foaming. Looks like I get to do this all over again, and then pull the reservoir and clean it plus flush the lines.

That would have worked great If I had done it.. lol I should have at the very least washed out the reservoir. It's hard to say where the new clog came from, the reservoir has a screen in it to keep out debris.

One thing I did see was that one of the nozzle assemblies was dribbling out through the bottom seams after the new clog. I'm going to have to get some better ones. They used these on the last e24s, and most e32/34s. About $70 a pair new.

HAHA I do too, thanks to your recommendation. It works like a charm. Now to find a needle to adjust the nozzles.

Has anybody ever disassembled a reservoir pump? I'm sure it's loaded with crap too. Just wondering if it's not hermetically sealed.

Oh the joys of resuscitating a sitting car. Just a couple more things to fix. "Ran great when parked!"

No joke though, this car drives straighter and smoother than any other car I've had. I'll mess with it a little longer and then I'm done, not kidding this time.

I'm going to have to leave the heater disconnected for now.

I suggested way above to just disconnect the heater. When I cleaned up my M6 nozzles I found this crude and I think it's due to the heaters. Maybe some of what we see in those pictures is due to electrolytic corrosion or the heater drying stuff out. I don't recall ever having these problems on a lowly e30 nozzle without the heater. I wonder if e30 nozzles are much cheaper and pop right in ?

Yea, I dunno. The super thin copper terminals were in great shape, they were coated in some type of grease that had turned a white color with a outer surface stain of blue from the washer fluid. I coated them in dielectric grease.

Those pieces that were corroded were definitely made of hard chromed cheap pot metal kind of like the tail light chromes. Just junk/cheap crap.

I can definitely see how having a anode/cathode could cause more deterioration. If the pieces were made from stainless we wouldn't have this conversation.
