The Non-Affilated Thread for April 2016
Re: The Non-Affilated Thread for April 2016
Yes, I saw this ad on Craigslist. Very local to me, but 308k miles and an automatic. Looks well kept, though. Too rich for my blood, especially with the mileage and the wrong transmission.

Damn! If I wasn't already ass deep in projects this one would deserve a close look...a little too much rust, but it looks like it could be the real deal. I'll let the experts chime in.

Re: The Non-Affilated Thread for April 2016
It looks like the Alpina had some really nice parts put on it. If the dash had a plaque, then it would be a real one for sure. However, I am not sure if the early ones had the Alpina plaque on the dash. I will let you know what the owner says; I e-mailed him. Note the front spoiler looks correct, but why is it black.....the original one got busted?

This car is sitting along the road about 5 minutes from my house. Interior (tan) looked quite nice through the windows. Body and paint look very good except for a scuff on the P/S front fender and a small dent on the D/S rear quarter. I don't know much about the E34 market, but the price seems a bit high considering it's a base model with an automatic an almost 200k on the clock. Nothing much to write home about other than it does look to be in pretty good shape. My guess is it will be sitting there for a little while.

Re: The Non-Affilated Thread for April 2016
A buddy of mine was trying to work out a deal for this car. According to him, the seller was upfront that this isn't a real Alpina, but he didn't go much further than that.rmiddendorf wrote:I, too, am curious to hear what the experts say. Re: The Non-Affilated Thread for April 2016
Alpina only made 29 real C1s. Every other "lolwtfomg I have a C1" cars were made by certain dealers and it varies greatly as to how the cars were fitted. Some were bone stock 323s with a spoiler, wheels, steering wheel and shifter. Others had every E21 part they could throw at it and some cars have BBS body kits and other wheels. I'd almost wager there are more "C1s" than 323s.
When I first saw this car, I liked it until I got to about the third photo.

Um, "up-front" would be not putting it in the title of his CL add. Something to indicate C1 clone would have been up front. This is more bait/switch IMHO. But that's me.JLav211 wrote:A buddy of mine was trying to work out a deal for this car. The paperwork for the car suggests it is a C1. It's just that pretty much every C1 isn't an "Alpina" car. Cars combined with Alpina parts, sure.

E12 "rust free" (at no additional charge). Actually the seller made no claims about the rust and did supply pics. http://boston.craigslist.org/nos/cto/5558291332.html
Sorry, no G265; it's an autotragic.

Re: The Non-Affilated Thread for April 2016
It's a lot too much. I don't believe that mileage for a minute, unless it just sat outside for years of non use and someone just sat in it and rubbed the seat switches almost clean. Too rusty too. Nice to see people pushing the limits on the ask. Great if it sells for half of that.Sapotorito wrote:Really? its a little too much...

I don't question the miles either but I do agree on the rust issues that might be hidden under the surface. That engine picture kind of says it at all...
