but I really don't see how what he says about the fuel pumps makes any sense with what he says about driving it.

I think if the in tank lift pump dies, the car would still run, just not well.

That car might not be a bad buy at $1500 if the body is totally rust free, but its a project for sure. I see someone put a bbs front air dam on it to, which is probably blocking the intercooler.

I was the first to contact seller yesterday (17 minutes after it was posted) but I couldn't get to Alexandria,KY until this morning and the car ended up selling last night. Good deal for someone. I'm sure it was one of our fellow mye28.com Ohioans that scooped it up. I can't win them all. Funny thing is that all the online VIN decoders either cannot decode it to see the options list or decode it to DC11. Autocheck via the license plate decodes it to a DC31? Last seven of VIN is 0926430, Someone decode it please!

I called this guy. Seems like it's a mechanic selling it for somebody who owes some money. He didn't know a lot about the car over the phone other than it was kept "original".

How would I tell if that's a high compression engine? Is the gearbox a g265?

Its my understanding that 82 and 85 e23's had the g265. A 5spd 735i would especially have it. As for the dirty m30 bit, that I'm not sure. I'd assume it has it but I've heard of some euro cars not having it.
