If I were on the hunt for an e34 M5 I would only get a 3.8 liter, preferably a '95.

^^^^^ Love the hurricane cloth/leather interior of the German car, but I'm not ready to get into the importing business and commit to a car I haven't seen and driven. Too cautious, I guess.

Adam, I'd love to find a euro 3.8 car, but those are as rare as rocking horse shit. Mike Ottati, one of the moderators on the m5board, contacted me about his 1993 silver/black car and even emailed me some photos, but then had second thoughts and decided he just couldn't bear to part with the car. I was also contacted about another 3.8 but its history and mileage just didn't work for me. If you are aware of something that might be available, please PM me.

I haven't been keeping tabs on them like I used to, maybe the market is heating up like a lot of things BMW M-related (and "vintage-ish").

All I know is there is only one car I ever regret selling, truly regret, not just miss sometimes and that was my '94 E34 M5 3.8 liter euro. What a machine....it felt special every time I (daily) drove it.

This reminds me of ~1998 in Switzerland staying with a friend outside of Bern. I had to catch a train in Bern early in the morning, and we were late leaving his home but driving in his wife's E34 M5 3.8L. As we enter the motorway about 6am, its WOT 2nd, 3rd, 4th and into 5th right up to the limiter for about 5-6 mins. He mentioned the ticket would be horrendous if he was caught (% of annual income), but it was apparently not too likely to get caught that time of the day. The sound of that big S38 sure was sweet.

Yes! That was a nice car! I didn't spend nearly enough time looking at it, but alpine white sure is a pretty color on the e34. Can't wait to see what you do with it!

ETA probably 2 weeks or so. Oil pan gasket is being replaced prior to final inspection and delivery to stop slow seep. Can't stand leaky cars. I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for sharing my enthusiasm!

Congrats on finding your M5. Was this e34 M5 at vintage last year? There was an AW M5 the owner was debating to sell. I believe he was from IN/OH/PA area.

That was likely me ('93). Mike and I did discuss a sale this year but I just wasn't ready to let it go. Best to Mike with his purchase.

Hi Mike,
I have an e34 M5 alpine Weiss considering to sell, still not sure. It has been my daily driver for about five years until about a year ago, when I started a full reconditioning project. All mechanicals done, anything rubber or plastic replaced. Chassis has 230K on it, motor around 130K was replaced and upgraded with all mods including dual row chain etc. More recently like a few months all seals (motor and transmission) replaced and all suspension components replaced and/or upgraded. Interior is superbly clean, needs new upholstery. I am looking for some M-cloth to do it, but Eric is out of his stuff. PM Me for pictures or call if you want.

Congrats on the M5! I just acquired an E34 as well...Mines is a 540i/6MT!

BTW I am looking for a black passenger rear door panel as well. I am going to check with the guy that had the E34 M5s to see if he has any. I will keep you posted!

My 200k black on black 91 could probably be had for a fair price. Fails your no black test though.

Drove the car back from NC on July 4. My kinda fireworks!

I've got to take some photos and update this post. But before I do, I've got to figure out some sort of web hosting for my pics. I REALLY miss KillerPM's uploader on the board.

Alex: Your e34 looks great. As you obviously know, I've been on a search for rear door cards for my car. NLA and decent used ones are apparently impossible to find. I'm going to see what my local auto upholsterer can do with mine. Let me know if you find some other alternative.

So far, I am very happy with her...just installed my 17" Hartges wrapped in 245/45/17s.
I can not wait to lower it on the Eibach springs
