On the e28 what did you do about the steering/exhaust?

Stock steering. Modded CTS-V manifold facing forward on Driver's side.

Gotcha, if I can't get the exhaust to exit back on both sides by using a steering rack I will most likely not move forward with the ls1/t56 and look for a s38 or just scrap the whole build.

Not that there is really anything wrong with the drivers side going forward and around the other side, I just can't deal with not having proper headers on this car.

Have you seen any builds with headers? I can't find anything.

We have them going to the front because it's boosted. There isn't anything available that will fit the driver's side. The C5 Corvette manifold fits the passenger side.

I have been making baby steps of progress with this heap, I'm working on a design for custom steering arms for the rack setup to be cnc machined. Figuring out the geometry is tricky though.

I have come up with a design for a two function in one part... The idea is to make a bump steer spacer/steering arm out of high strength chromoly steel. It makes the most sense to me for correcting the steering geometry issues that a rack conversion causes. One cool side note is the fact that I could have a few different steering arm sets for different driving applications like autox, track or street. The design is still in its infancy but I feel it has a lot of potential.

This is why I love doing custom work so much, I like coming up with simple solutions to problems I create for myself.

For the first time in about three years the car is a roller again, kinda weird to see it looking somewhat like a car again. Today I welded and assembled the coilovers and brakes... One step closer to setting the engine/trans in place.

The new gto oil pan kit came in the mail today, I will start tinkering with this car again soon. I might be selling my euro e24 resto project, if that happens it will make working on this car a much more focused experience.

I have not compared them close enough to say, I don't know if this is going to work properly yet anyway. This might as well be rocket surgery as I am but a dust jockey.

Ls1 swap plans have been scrapped, going back to a BMW motor... This probably won't be very conventional.

It came down to what it was going to take to have proper headers on it, was a dealer breaker.

New motor is inline/supercharged, roughly 460hp at the flywheel.

It will still require some work but makes more sense to me.

I think this swap is going to be awesome. Not a totally unconventional drivetrain but it will be great.
