yes the rear arches are lower so they should be lowered as much i dont want my car to look like a jacked up 1970s barracuda or similar (i would like one, but my bmw doesnt want its stance ). im hopefully having my bmw garaged for another few months and will be buying some spax adjustable suspension, so in the meantime i can experiment with cutting springs to get the right ride height and see how it looks at different angles and stuff. if i do anything as fun as i think it will be, then il post the pictures. then before i drive it on the road (the springs will probably be way too short for use on the road because of them dislocating and whatever, i will put on my new suspension kit

By the way, I am Evan's younger brother and I just snapped these pictures out in the driveway. The picture he took on his cell phone made it look a bit lower, dang fangled cell phones with their cameras and gadgets

Also note that our driveway is slightly slanted so it doesn't show the front end being much lower than the rear.

Edit: Resized images to be 800x600 instead of 1024x768.

I dunno... it looks like Yellow's car is still lower... I would know - cant even fit half my darn head underneath it! Hell, my jack doesn't even get underneath it - I have to jack it using the car jack first, then a real jack on the frame... that's how low it is.

Cropping is for the weak and 56k'ers. Ive gotten into the habit for you ShawnD. THat and the long ebay posts even though i have a 21" and can see the whole link in my screen just fine.

I hope you're kidding 1024x768 is a perfect size, unless you are running 800x600 resolution or are using a cell phone.

I will post 800x600 pictures next time though.

Not cropping is lazy. Giant pics do not equal quality pics. I'm on a T-1 line at work, so the file size isn't the problem -- the way they screw up the thread is the problem.

No, I'm not kidding. I am on 1024x768, and even if one is on 1024x768, a pic of that size still screws up the board formatting. I thank you in advance for putting out more effort next time.

well im on a 17" notebook with 1440x900 and i love big pics some are silly but the ones above with evans car are perfect size stop moaning !@#$ !@#$

This is not an 'equipment challenge' group. We are here to share information that rarely, if ever, requires any images larger, or higher resolution, than 800X600. Not everyone here is on a high speed connection, either. It is simply inconsiderate if not outright rude to fail to consider them (or, right now, me - on my home dialup).

No, it's not for at least two reasons; one being file size. The other is that the image is displayed entirely within the message box, which runs off the side of a 1024X768 screen because it's displayed to the right of the author/avatar boxes. One then must scroll across to see the entire image and to read the the end of all automatically formatted lines of text in the thread. It's annoying as hell.

I will post 800x600 pictures next time though.

I was trying to make a joke with my unless you are running 800x600 resolution or are using a cell phone comment. I used to use a 1024x768 resolution on my computer, but now I have grown used to my 1280x1024 resolution where an 800x600 image is too small to see the real details of a picture.

Me too, only my resolution is 1680x1050. I wouldn't have realized that picture was too large, but will try to keep that in mind for the future. I usually take smaller pics Anyway, but now I'll make sure I do.

How's the ride after a few days of the chopped springs? Still stiff as a board?

has nobody measured their sump - ground clearance apart from me yet? i want to see how low peoples sumps really are or whether its those big old iS bumpers.....

is every m30 e28 sump the same? because mines only a b25 if that makes a difference....

3 15/16" sump to ground and about the same for the cat. The pan has never touched anything, but the cat has a few scratches on it from speed bumps. I don't think I've ever seen a man hole cover or anything that was 4" above the surface. I guess the biggest danger around here is severely rutted asphalt, I usually ride on the high side if I see that condition.

BTW, '95R , that's a nice looking T-5R. I also have a '95 855 T. Always wanted a T-5R, but they're pretty rare. So I put factory Titans and rear roof spoiler on it, so it almost looks like one, minus the airdam. (Of course it's the wrong color to have Titans on it--red) but most wouldn't notice.

ok, for all you guys who want to know how it handles now. I finally cut the bump-stops off this afternoon, and after the car settled what looks to be about another 1/2" on top of what it had already lowered, I drove it around. It is LOW!! I will be the first to admit that is is slightly lower now than I really wanted, but stuff like this happens when you cut stuff off of your car Anyway, besides the other little problems I have run into, the car handles great! stiff, but not too stiff considering how low I am. Turning........ummm....I will have to go into that later when I can fuly turn the car again...lol. In short, don't do what I did unless you can deal with the consequesnses like I am going to do. It looks good, but I should have just well enough alone. Anyway, tomorrow I am going to roll/pull out my front fenders to hopefully remedy the situation until I sell my jeep and can buy some GC coil-overs. Basically I tried something new (and slightly stupid, but what car guy hasn't tried something like this?) and failed. Well I will get some pics tomorrow.....Yellow, I think I can safely say I am lower than you at this point. Anyway, I love you guys. Thanks for putting up with me!

they look like AZEV's (AZEVI? something like that).

I was thinking they were Azev wheels; I have them on my car and I've never seen another e28 with them.

In front i have koni's with 80mm H&R springs and rear are bilstein and also 80mm H&R srings. I aloso have hevier engine so that may be a reason:D
wheels are AZEV "A" front 8,5/17 with 225/45/17 rear 10/17 with 245/40/17.

Frankly, I think I'd prefere the nearly all-stock look, maybe dropped a bit, but nothing obvious.

Looks good Evan. I wish mine sat a little lower in the front but I think I am gonna keep it where it is at cause I already have had to put a oil pan in it. Long story so lets just say watch out for those things at the gas station they use to fill the main tanks that for some reason are mounted on a cement slab higher then the rest of the lot.it needs to clear up so we can get the NW crew out for a event.

thats exactly what I was thinking! I am pretty sure I can still come down 1 or 2 spring perches in the rear, so I am going to toy around with that probably next weekend. No more cutting though!

make sure you get pictures! i love low e28s, and i havent even seen one that i would be satisfied with yet... lol. with spring perches you can always come back up again if it goes too low.....

Doing that would bring the spoiler up off the ground a bit and that would be good for preserving said spoiler
