I took a Vicodin and played some golf. It seems to always be free on Christmas Day somehow because no one is around here at the country club. I got a little of course too.
My wife has been trying to get me to replace my ratty 20+ year old Hush Puppy slippers (I'm told you left-coasters call them "house shoes") for the last several years. I've stitched up and Shoe-Goo'd a couple of tears in the leather, and the sheep fuzz inside is matted and worn, but they can't be beat for keeping my feet warm around the house in these cold months. The trouble is, she keeps buying the cheap department store slippers, and they neither fit well nor wear well. This year though she went all in, and bought a pair of Tempur-pedic slippers for me; they are well-built and all that, but the size 12 she got for me is way too narrow for my flippers, so I get to take them back and see if the store has something that fits better. I might just take the cash and keep wearing my old faves though. Not that I don't appreciate the effort, I just like my Hush Puppies.
I got a speeding ticket on my way to a job interview in late August. 78 in a 65 he claimed. I plead not guilty in September and was waiting on my court date. Today I got a letter in the mail from the court clerk saying that the prosecutor had entered a "nolle prosequi", essentially declining to prosecute and my case was "disposed". Apparently that's sort of like dismissed but not exactly, but the result is the same. The ticket is gone!
Santa must have put in a good word for me. Bless that fat old man.
