Well, I just spent some time test driving two cars. Both manuals.. 1st I test drove a 2014 mustang with a premium package and brembo brake package.. These things are like 420 ponies from the factory. I must say I was surprised and I was impressed. Next on the test drive was a stripped down gt with a 373 rear end, LSD, brake package and no frills. Both cars were fast. IM surprised that I liked the cars as much as I did. They offered me the strip down version with the rear end and brake package for 30 grand. Im sure you can get these cars for under 30 if you try hard. I cant say I could tell a big difference between the cars with the different rear ends. I was in 6th gear at 80 mph and was only turning 2000 RPM with the 373 rear. I think they are standard with a 323 and there is also a 355 option...Given that I had lunch with my old business partner and he had just dropped some pretty big dollars on a z06 vette for like 560hp these ponies are not that far shy of 500 hp with a tune and some exhaust mods. The vette cost more than twice the pony car almost 3 times as much.. There is also a factory blower you can buy... The options are significant... I must say though that I pulled up in the hartge and got immediate respect from numerous folks. But 30 years makes a big difference in performance. So the new pony car gt version does have big bang for the buck!! If I buy one you guys will think Im a redneck though. hahahaha the south will rise again!

True, and the Mustang will go around corners too, but the Z06 weighs nearly 1k lbs less and is in a different class performance-wise.

True, the vette is in a another class.
The young salesman was a car guy, he let me dog he car. I was barking it in third and he was saying "good shift good shift". I bet I made about 10 good runs between both cars on this little side road. Also drove on the interstate.. I have to say again that I was surprised. I have seen a 2010 model at an autocross and it seemed to wallow, looked heavy. I am impressed with the versatility in terms of drivability and fun factor.. I don't think any of the German manufactures have a comparable value in terms performance and fun to drive factor. I'm not ready to pull the trigger. I don't usually buy new cars but the exposure has sure got my wheels turning

I did just that the other day when we started talking about them. GTV8, 6 speed manual, track package, Recaro seat package, wheel locks and in "Arrest Me Red".

$34,xxx out the door. Cars Direct could get it for me for just under $32k. Still the best deal going
