I think that car is the closest resemblance to the e28 body style.

Yeah, 510s were great cars for their day. Kind of a knock off of a 2002. And 510 is exactly what I saw when I stripped down my E28 to have it painted. I had the bumpers, grills, trim all of, looked at it and said, damn, looks like a 510!

Yeah! I remember the first time I saw a 510, I had the same reaction as when I saw a e28 "I need that!"

The body lines get me everytime.

What are your thoughts / experiences?

I have a thing for cars "ahead of their time" or against the grain.

all aluminum motor? DOHC?

Doesn't really seem like something Chevy would put their stamp of approval on.

I'm not saying all aluminum motors or DOHC's were a "new" thing in 75'...but they weren't in everyday cars.

I just looked at this car it has surface rust but the floors are good it is #585 I didn't look at the mileage but picture looks better than it is but would be a good project. I has Quad on it now but the FI is in the front seat. from what I read it is worth the money the owner is a nice gear head and will take an offer. He has all the paper work from the orginal owner. I didn't buy it because I already have a 70 C-10 project to finish.

I owned a 1975 Cosworth Vega. I was also the Northern Caluifornia Regional Director for the Cosworth Vega Owner's Association (CVOA). The organization is still around today: http://www.cosworthvega.com/


This picture was taken by a fellow Cosworth owner, living near San Luis Obispo, while I was an engineering student at Cal Poly. The year was 1980.

I put Goodyear Wingfoot's and Koni Red shocks on it, as well as a "test pipe", a front spoiler, and some dark acrylic headlight covers I made in a plastics lab at school.

I never had rust issues (California car since new). Every engine was hand signed by the guy who built it! The valves adjusted with shims (similar to the s38) and I did my own adjustments. The Chevrolet Power Catalog listed a HD block, high compression pistons, performance cams, and a dry sump oiling system. I was also fortunate to be friends with the owner of "Performance Dynamics" in Sacramento, one of 3 national Cosworth Vega service shops. We had national "round-ups" and social gatherings. We were invited to the Monterey Historics one year when the featured marque was Chevrolet, and we got 3 laps around Laguna Seca!

A fun car, and not "just a Vega" (I owned 5 Vegas over the years, but only one Cosworth). Because each one had the famous "numbered dash plaque", they were collectible from the beginning. They were never worth alot, because there were several kept "mint, unused, undriven".

I sold it to buy my second BMW, first e28.

Did someone mention dimes?

Always wanted one. It's on the list of cars I'll buy one day for sure. That, and a MK2 Supra .. almost bought one, wound up with a Scirocco (which was a fun car, but ended my desire to ever own another FWD car).

I'd rather have a dime over any 240/60/80. And yep, the lines do definitely resemble the e28! It's what drew me to an e28 to start with... couldn't find a dime worth a flip or that wasn't turned into something like this:
