Bump back up - Someone give me $3200 for this car and it's yours. That's less than the parts are worth, even if you're just thinking of doing a turbo on your E28, you could buy my car to strip the turbo and MS bits off and be money ahead.
I quit trying actively to sell this car for quite a while, as I started to tear into the HVAC again to get the A/C going. Then it sat for about 7 months because I had to do a surprise engine rebuild on my 911 and just didn't have time to deal with the BMW.
As it sits now, I'd really like to sell the car before the end of the year. The time has just come to move on and simplify my driveway a little. I just put a new microswitch on the HVAC fan controller, so the heat and flaps all work great.
The A/C system does not leak and if you jumper 12v to the compressor, it pumps great and blows nice cold air. Something electrical is still off, and it won't turn on the compressor for me with the dash controls. I've put in a new ProGrama control panel, I'm hoping that perhaps it's the fact that the outside temp sensor isn't connected properly.
The car still drives very well, and I would go cross-country with it. The MS2 needs tuning, I just upgraded it to the 3.2.5 firmware and did a little bit of light-throttle steady-state tuning to smooth things out a bit, but it just needs some time spent with a laptop, and if you want to continue running 15psi, it really needs an intercooler. Otherwise just pick up an 8psi spring and tune accordingly.
