Selling my car.

After following Dave's posts (motor swapping project, personal insights, interactions, life events) I was drawn to the purchase as a moth to the flame. The love of his car was torn from him by his medical condition. The lack of a ready market to recoup his considerable outlay got me going to complete this sale. After meeting at Dave's house, test driving the car nearby, I handed him the cash that doesn't begin to cover his costs. We all are the possessors of "orphans" in many ways, and to nurture them to better futures seems to come with the territory. As the new steward of his "baby" I made it a few miles up route 29, before an incidence of "separation anxiety" transpired. Traffic crawled and in the middle of St.Helena, I clutched it, turned the key & nothing. Pushed off I thought, "Ten miles, thirty minutes, what does it need?" Dave said, "main relay" Napa Parts, two doors down, coincidence? I doubt it. Kismet. In the process of matching relays, I realized how "adrift at sea" I was. Motor swapped, and a big mystery as to how it goes together. Tractor Doc next to me helped the counter guy put together a cogent transition to a relay that matched. During the considerable ruminations, I began to feel that the starter may be hot and bound up. Plenty of coolant, no over-heat, just "cranky"not cranking. Cool down time, new relay, BINGO, not sure what did it, don't care, rolling home!! Westbound to the 101, baby ran fine, up the road, itching to stretch the luck, saw nothing but flashing lights of the "constabulary" variety. Including two that lit up just as I backed off a push to nearly the century!! Way back, but an "OH, SHIT" moment. They both hit the exit ramp for a 360, and I resolved to retire the Scofflaw that owns my approach to speed laws. Nearly five hundred miles later, after a couple of "push" starts, after fueling, I'm settled into another piece of the puzzle concerning my peculiar "obsession". Not so peculiar around here, I'm sure. Not so much a "daily driver" as "daily therapy". As they say in Austin, Tx. "Keep it Weird"!!!

Glad to see this worked our for Dave given what he's been going through.
I hope to see this car in Portland next year(?)

I was very, very, disappointed not being able to make it to 5ERWEST. I'll look forward to next year, may need some drivers to ferry some of the "fleet". Have to brew some "Bavarian" style beer to keep the festivities in character. I'm also in the same place concerning TexFest. Just returned from a visit to Austin (the heart-throb recently relocated) and I've used up all my NetJet, (yeh, right)

That car fries main relays. I just put one in less than 200 miles ago.
