Well, it's been almost a year, but since you asked.

Final test fitting before installation. After this step, just cleaning, painting and lubing of the stock seat bases. I also have to fit the BMW fire extinguisher bracket to the new seat but it doesn't look like it will be a big deal.

Now, that is what I'm talking about! I'm glad you decided to keep them. They look so freaking good in that car!!!!

That seat looks almost TOO comfortable. Be careful on long drives.

The rear seat has new upholstery that is the same OEM pattern and material as the Scheels so I wasn't going to change anything.

I really wish you hadn't brought this up because I was thinking the same thing. The original upholstery had the pattern running vertically while the Scheels have it horizontal like the M3 rear seat. *sigh*

I'm going with a comfort seat fire extinguisher bracket. It will work just dandy with a minor modification.

The rear seats on the 'is' versions of the E28 and E30 are something I've always felt was lacking in the design. I guess they wanted to keep the functionality of the the 5 passenger seating rather than a 4 passenger sport sedan like the 190e-16V.

Hey, you can't rush quality, precision work, or even what I'm doing. The key to adapting Scheel seats to stock e30 sliders is to make sure the holes in the aluminum pieces that fasten to the bottom of the seat are EXACT. The Greeks knew it, the Carthaginians knew it, now YOU know it.

I just need to paint 'em black and then the seats are ready to go in tomorrow.



I'm going to put some welting along the lower edge to give it a more finished look. Not the stuff in the pic, but you get the idea.

Yeah, right now, they have a more open look about them.

You're going with the lawn chairs after all? I know you were looking for something perforated that would allow air flow to keep your cheeks from getting chafed. I suppose that will do the trick, but what about the associated pinching from the webbing? What are you going to use for back seats now? Wouldn't it just be easier dumping some baby powder in your chonies when you're getting dressed?

these are super easy to adapt to a e30 using sport seat rails and no welding, minor welding gets em in a e28/24 with same rails, annnnnd they cost about the same as a decent pair of sport seats

I forgot to round off the back end of the brackets before painting so they're not officially installed yet.



The plastic side covers were in really bad shape and I was afraid I was going to have to paint them. I used my favoritest plastic cleaner though and they came out a million times better.

I've checked with all the usual suspects within a 1000 miles of Sandy Eggo, checked Craigslist within a 1000 miles of Sandy Eggo, checked Ebay and posted a WTB on R2D2v3limited. I'm also going to shout out to the Cali/AZ nerds who spend waay too much time going to the yards (i wuv you guys) because you never know what you'll find there on any given Sunday.
