The hot ticket on the Vette forums is to buy seats from a mid-80's Fiero GT and have them recovered. Evidently there's quite an aftermarket out there for that kinda thing. Seats from a yard go for $50 - $100 each.

I bought a pair 25 years ago for my VW bug. I didn't recover them because they were basically new, but I remember them being pretty nice seats for the money.

And, they have speakers in the headrest.

Cool topic. I don't believe I've auditioned a genuine Recaro seat yet that I didn't like no matter what marque it was in. As others have suggested, keep an eye out for VWs from this era (1970s-80s-90s) in any boneyard as the sport models were often equipped with Recaros. I love the factory-option Recaro-made Sport seats in Porsches from this era too. They're sublime. To be honest, the regular (non-sport) Porsche seats are pretty supportive and comfortable as well and they can be had cheaply too. The best advice is to checkout your local boneyards and cruise your local Craigslist and Recycler regularly. Let us know what you end up finding. Happy hunting...
