Round Three: Fight!!! *Standing 8 count, page 3*
Ahhh, power. Ultimate end state would be to close in on clongo's latest power output.unt0uchable wrote:Manual steering box? Nicely done.ldsbeaker wrote:I KNEW it could be found.
I'm watching this build (and reading others) for a future turbo build of my own. Like, future. What kind of numbers are you going to be shooting for?
Love 'em! I was just thinking about how comfy they were this morning on the drive in.ACHTUNG wrote:How do you like those Monaco sport seats?

I really like them too. I'm thinking about reupholstering them in leather or alcantara though.
No!
Mine need a serious cleaning, and a couple of other minor details, but I try to be as careful as possible getting in and out of them. I want them to last a LOOONG time.
Nice find on that manual steering box! I know you have been looking for a long time. I still need to find a manual center console.
I wish you still lived on the east coast so you could go for a ride! It feels great at this power. Any idea if you are heading to vintage this year?ldsbeaker wrote:Ahhh, power. Ultimate end state would be to close in on clongo's latest power output.
They are quite rare. They were in my 86 eta before it was wrecked and Adam bought them from me. Rear manual windows came from me as well.ACHTUNG wrote:Why do you think I shouldn't reupholster them? Are they rare? Or do you just really like the pattern?ldsbeaker wrote:*GASP*

Hmmm...didn't realize they were rare. I'm curious now...how much is a set in very good condition worth?shagrath wrote:They are quite rare. They were in my 86 eta before it was wrecked and Adam bought them from me. Rear manual windows came from me as well.

(I'll stop thread jacking now)
Dunno, just being dramatic. Honestly, didn't know of anyone else that had a set. Would love to see what you have done with your interior around the seats. How much are they worth? Dunno. I think I kinda caught Matt at a weak moment. I didn't haggle the price at all and booked my ass down there with 4 bills to pick them up. Maybe i overpaid, maybe under. I was willing to pay that price.ACHTUNG wrote:Why do you think I shouldn't reupholster them? Are they rare? Or do you just really like the pattern?ldsbeaker wrote:*GASP*

Haha. You don't remember that i have an extra console and offered it to you? We just had to work out a price... Unfortunately, you have to pick brown or blue. Check my "fatherland" thread.clongo wrote:Nice find on that manual steering box! I know you have been looking for a long time. I still need to find a manual center console.

I think i'm going to plan to be at vintage/RTT this year. (With "new" car*) Haven't made any concrete plans because i don't know which RTT rumor to believe.
*also, need more progress on this thread, right?
Would love to continue bringing a different car every year...
I haven't done anything to the interior yet. I just got the car this past Sept. and it came with the Monaco seats. It has ugly olive green rear cloth seats that are all faded, torn and shitty which is why I mentioned reupholstering everything eventually.ldsbeaker wrote:Dunno, just being dramatic. Interestingly enough though, I guess the previous owner had two spare Monaco headrests and used them for the rear seats. They're the same cloth pattern. I'll get pics up soon.
Again, sorry for going off topic with this...
hrrrmmmmm...
So, I cleaned for about 2 hours and got it so that I won't have to wash my hands every time I touch it... It's dark out, but hey, I'm excited, let's go give it a test fit...
I had a feeling that the steering linkage may be too short, but I was distracted by the scarcity of the box.
Also of note is that the splines on the manual box are COARSE, and the ones on the hydro box are FINE.
This wouldn't be a problem but for the u-joint thingy. (FINE)

off to RealOEM, hope they have a solution for me...

Now I can get back to doing stuff that other people have actually done before...
Next up is the Motronic 1.3 upgrade in preparation for an MS DIYPNP install along with the 745 turbo stuff. Should be lots of pictures of engine preparation and stuff like that coming soon! Thanks for tuning in!

Shouldn't you be downgrading your car to L-jetronic?ldsbeaker wrote: Next up is the Motronic 1.3 upgrade in preparation for an MS DIYPNP install along with the 745 turbo stuff. Should be lots of pictures of engine preparation and stuff like that coming soon! Thanks for tuning in!
You should bring this car to Vintage. I want to try out the manual steering.

Those two gauges will be replaced.pleasefixitup wrote:what are the two gauges in the ash tray?
Yes, thanks, Chris. I looked it up and you had already responded.ElGuappo wrote:Cool thanks Chris.wkohler wrote:It's the ignition control module for the L-Jet.
An early chassis only item I suppose.
Adam, neat car. The poverty pack manual window slicktop aspect is really cool.
Too bad about all the blue though.
Thanks, Jay. The car makes me feel really dumb. This is what I was going for the whole time. If I would have known that I could just BUY it, I wouldn't have gone through all the trouble of changing my US spec car over. I know all the bits inside and out, though.
It IS too bad about the blue, but I think I may keep it blue just for sleeper status. Maybe for driving hard, I can swap in the Monaco seats.
