You used to be able to see them. Blame Photobucket.anpk05 wrote:Why can't the pictures be seen on this forum? It would be great to see the pictures.

I will add the Sony CDX-5100, which looks just like the 5290 but has better specs, i.e. more power. Rare as hens teeth now, I've had two of them and I can't seem to find another one.
Re: List of period correct (mostly) stereos with amber displ
Has anyone looked into the Clarion FZ102E for the E28? It seems to be a popular deck for the E30 and E36. One minor hurdle is that it's not sold in the US, but it can be had off of eBay UK and the likes.

^^^^I actually kind of like that one.
Re: List of period correct (mostly) stereos with amber displ
Here is my current one: Blaupunkt SQR-48 Nashville (1988):
Soon to be upgraded to an SQR-88 Woodstock which is essentially the same HU just with 4 channel outputs. This photo makes it look more yellow than yellow/orange but it is pretty close to E28 in reality (although I think these were pushed more into Porsche's than BMW's). I need to get better pictures of this one.

It replaced this one: Kenwood Excelon X895 (+/-2011):
(This HU is for sale BTW if anyone is interested. You can adjust and fine tune the illumination to dial in a yellow/orange that comes pretty close to BMW E28 specs. These photos are a bit deceiving in showing the actual colors.)

I had this one last in the 1988 535i: Blaupunkt Business CD43 (+/-1995, this one sported the Rover markings):
(I realize this photo is pretty useless without the illumination, I searched my photos and realized I never took one with it fully powered on
But at least you can see it in the dash. The illumination was on the more orange side of the spectrum but within E28 specs, give or take; they were made to go in later E32/E34/E31's after all.)

There are some great looking stereos, wow nice.
Unfortunately most of the older pics don't work due to Photobucket. smh...
