Thanks for the Kudos. I wont be able to test until the car is running again. I'm in the middle of swapping engines. But as soon as I get a chance to drive it I'll report back. The car has been down for 3 months so far and I'm getting horny for my M5. Updated a couple of extra things which is why it's taking so long.

Dinan. I have the stage III kit on the car minus the strut bar. I think the stage III came with one, not sure. I purchased the Dinan parts just prior to it becoming NLA. The spacers are to change the roll center on the front suspension because I have it lowered a bit with those springs. I read about the spacers online and bought a set, but really have no idea if it changed anything. At least by my feel that is.

Those brakes are deliciously immense. I like it!

Remember.., this setup is designed for stock 16" wheels !

Is there any chance that you've got drawings of the brackets that you're willing to share?

I didn't make them myself so I don't have any drawings.

Well, I am asking YOU.

The plan has always been to offer the brackets and allow enthusiasts to buy their own porsche calipers off ebay, have them machined, etc.. The e36 M3 guys do it this way and I think it's really the best.

I've received lots of emails wanting a complete kit and not have to go through the hassle of finding a competent machine shop that wont ruin a set of 996 calipers. So at some point I think I'll offer a complete kit as well.

As of now I'm stalled with the project. The cost of machining limited quantity brackets is too high so I'm looking for an alternative to StopTech brackets.

As I get further along I'll post the progress.

Do you have drawings? I have a guy that does machining for me and has 2 mills at home. He works at the development department of Phillips Holland where he makes prototypes.

I can ask him to make a couple of sets. My brother has a set from him on his car too (with the 02 and on Viper Brembo's and E60 545i discs).

Another option I have is the folowing:

I have a couple of brackets for the older style Viper Brembo's (02 and older) which you have to run with E60 545i discs too.
These brembo's are a bit smaller but also gives good stopping power.

This set requires 17" at least and some 17" doesn't even fit (E39 BBS cross spokes)

Ill make some pictures of the brackets today.

Hartge wheels, BBS RAs, BBS RGs, BBS RSs, Centras, E31 styles 8 and 9, E38 style 4s, and a couple of 16" RZs work over E31 Brembos. Alpinas will work with an 8mm spacer, Big-lip RZs don't work at all.

I have a spare stock 135i 6 piston caliper (made for BMW by Brembo) from an insurance job and where there was some paint damageI also have a complete set of front and rear 135i discs with less than 3k on them that were given to me after BMW Performance discs were installed. The 135i caliper has the same center to center mounting locations as my spare E28 strut housing. The 135 front disc sits perfectly on the E28 hub as well. In order to perfectly center the disc in the caliper I'll need to have 4 9.75mm thick spacers made to sit between the strut housing and the caliper or maybe a 9.76 thick bracket to span between the mounting holes. As you can see minor trimming of the shield was necessary. I'm not sure of the individual piston areas and pad area so figuring out the effects on brake bias are still order. I may need an adjustable proportioning valve.

Send me the specs you need and I can fab you a couple of spacers, no problem. This seems like a nice alternative using BMW parts.

338mm x 25.0mm.
If I lay the rotor on flat my bench with the inner face flat on the bench I measure 66mm from bench to the inner mounting surface of the "hat" where it bolts to the hub.

Hello if I am running 18 inch wheels could I buy brackets and calipers and bolt right on? If so e34 m5 rotor is the best option? Answers would be greatly appreciated I have a set of black 996 calipers just waiting to be installed

I had sent S38Mike a PM asking for more info on the fitment and received no reply so hopefully he will reply here with info.

Finally was able to upgrade SW at work and get my old drawings back.



I have someone that wants me to make front and rear brackets for Stop-tech/Brembo calipers, so now that I have my sample and my drawings back, and some parts to do the testing on, these will be available at as low of a cost as I can make them. I found someone that can anodize them as well.

So Paul does this project have some life back in it?
I guess Phil gave up on the Stop-tech calipers?
Are there other options for calipers?
