Well it turns out he’s closing escrow on an investment/rental house and there’s “a bunch of BMW stuff” in the garage. I don’t know if it was a foreclosure or what, but he said he’s stuck with dealing with whatever is left in the house.

I asked him “like what?” and per Russell:

Some different sized boxes with BMW on ‘em
Some molding looking things in plastic with BMW on ‘em
Some boxes that say “may-lay” (Meyle? Mahle?)
Some boxes that say “man”
Some boxes that say Bosch
A steering wheel that looks brand new with some weird purple and red stitching but it’s missing ‘all the middle part’.

I asked what he wanted for the lot and he said, “When escrow closes, come down to PB and take it all away and then you can buy me lunch”. I said, “you drive a hard bargain, but okay”. :)
That's so lucky. Can you post pictures of the stuff you scored?

Truth be told, this is why I post about my car passion on Facebook. I want to make sure everyone I know knows that I'm totally into old cars so that I'll be the first person they think of when their grandfather dies and they have no idea what to do with the 507, M1, MB pagoda, Lancia, Datsun Roadster, and MG TD stored in his barn.

Not everyday somebody puts some e26 M1 wheels on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-FACTORY-OE ... Am&vxp=mtr

If I wasn't shoulder deep into some H&B wheels I would strongly consider those.

I'm working today. It's double time but I'm soooo bored. I've been driving around watching water run since 5:00am. I should be home drinking beer and watching football. :(

I wish our society would flip from needing new features in everything all the time and try to shift back to just making everything we have work well. I'd rather have less features and more reliability.

Adobe is responsible for this tirade, but it applies to most of what we consume and use. /rant.

I alwaly said I'd never restore a car, and I never wanted to before.

Well now I'm starting to think how cool it would be to bring the 735i back to its glory days. It ain't happening because we don't have the $$, but damn I've never wanted to before.

Although I probably will do some rust mitigation on him.

So we can comfortably have 4 cars at our house. Then I did something I said I'd never do today: I asked my mom if I could store a car in her second garage bay.

I need therapy.

P.S. Apparently I'm also talking to myself in this thread.

Glittering Blue: https://glittering.blue/

This is worth your time. Trust me. Click the about thing on the top-left.
Is it live?

No. It’s one day in early August, 2015. It’s just that day in a loop. Covering more days would mean a bigger video file, and it’s already huge.

Is this how it really looks?

Short answer: Yes, other than speeding it up.

Damn thats cool. I wish it were slower so I could see more before it goes dark though. Im impressed at how detailed everything is and how fluid the motions are. I wonder how big the file for an entire year would be...

I was at a shoot today and the owner asked me if I needed any tools. I said probably not; what are you getting rid of? A circular saw, a miter saw, a belt sander... gee... three things I don't have. I had to borrow my neighbor's circular saw for the dollhouse build. Check them out and they're the well build old school stuff- a Milwaukee circ saw and a Delta miter saw. I ask how much. He says make an offer. Well I didn't want to offend him so I pulled out my wallet and said I have $45. He hesitated I think shocked I went so high and said yes. Then I asked if he was getting rid of the extension cord. He said take it- I'll throw it in. Then I'm loading the car and he's breaking down a table. The table for the miter saw. Didn't know that was part of the package. As I'm cramming this into my car he comes over with a box... "Do you want a Porter Cable belt sander too?" I mean I could use it. Here, take it.

So for $45 I got a circ saw, a miter saw (non-compound), and a belt sander. I think I did okay...

I'll give you $45 for the belt sander alone

When I started working on cars I never envisioned that I'd have to spend as much time as I do just trying to FIND the right part in a reasonable amount of time. This part number? Or that one? Is it right in RealOEM? Did they change it? Oh it has to come from Germany? Oh you have a used one? No not the right one i needed the left one; the shop just mis-classified it- sending it back. Oh wait they switched that part in the middle of a model year? Two different suppliers and I need the one that's not being made anymore? So to change the fitment I'll have to re-build the entire assembly? So I need to call to see if you have the right used part? Why not just break it down on your website? You're closed on Saturday morning? I'll send you an Email. Oh, well that's only for notifications of new parts and I just need a specific one.

I also need to stop ordering parts BEFORE disassembly so I don't over-order. Typically I don't miss anything, but I'll be darned if I don't frequently have new parts leftover for some reason or another. Thank goodness for Blunt on new, but used is a bloody headache.

I got free tickets the scottsdale barret jackson auction last night and to my disbelief saw this bmw, they charge people $55 to see salvage title bmws like this one. If bj is getting someone to paying 7,150 for a 635csi with a salvage title,200k,incorrect wheels, auto tranny and mediocre respray, then i need to reconsider when selling cars on craigslist.

I haven't tasted it yet, but I think I found my new favorite German brew. Available in the convenient 2 liter bottle! (pictured next to a standard half-liter bottle for scale.)

"Honest, hossifer; I only had one beer!"

Sadly that wasn't the only BMW there was this e36 m3 too http://www.barrett-jackson.com/Events/E ... -M3-191035
I saw this and thought hey this looks like a clean car from 30ft away,i looked and both sides had various panels showing terrible wavy bodywork. I honestly didn't even think the car was for sale until i pulled up the link searching for the 635.Website says it sold for 23.5k

To be fair they had a handful of pretty cool custom cars but if i were to pay $55 i would pay a little extra and go to the RM auction.

I'm sitting here with bated breath.. Being a recent owner of a 1 owner rust free 101k mile 88 635, I am joyous in anticipation that I could sell this car at a high standard, then replace it with a car that is nice to me and have cash left over. Too bad my car needs a paint job being original bronzit. Else I would be in the money.. maybe I still am, judging the sale cycle history.
I don't mind a little rust, that just means I can enjoy the car like I'm the last owner.. Decisions. I could definitely market my car something fierce after I finish off all the details, this car isn't far off from a great 101k car that doesn't have any surprises. Hopefully I can buff the paint a little bit.

So if they are going to be inspecting the piston pin snap rings with a borescope, that means they need to drop the oil pan and check out the guts from the bottom, right? That's a bit of a mess, to say the least.... And if they find missing or misaligned snap rings, will they be able to replace them without a full teardown? It's got to be pretty tight in there....

Gawd, I efffing hate going to the Post Office! The only thing that kept me from going postal was chatting with the sweet Chinese lady in line behind me.
With the exception of purchasing Chinese New Year Commemorative Stamps (which was what the nice Chinese lady was doing), why would you ever set foot in the place other than to pick up a package? I had no choice because I purchased something on Ebay that was shipped from Elbonia so of course they wouldn’t leave it at the front door without a signature.
I mean for fucks sake, you can mail something a million better places than the post office. Of the three people being ‘served’ while I’m waiting, one was buying stamps and had to see every design available before making a choice. The second one was a girl in her twenties that was mailing a manila envelope to her sister in Los Angeles which required 20 minutes of discussion, and the third was a couple who I had no idea what their business was, but it looked like they were about to cry.
BTW, it’s the year of the Monkey you Neanderthals. :)
