Ok, today it'll be alot of pics. Not too much done, main reason is that a friend of mine did shoot some pics while visiting me.

First of all, yesterday was the time of paying the Bavaria (BMW) dealer here locally, for verifying my use of parts in this rebuild. Norwegian laws are strict...

Testmounting the toolbox. I want to paint the box and the cover for the trunk black, but do not know what to use for best result... New black foam was nice...












Replaced the switch with one that the internal lights actually work in...








Alot of colors, huh? If I knew 4-5 years ago that I would use so much time, effort and money in this car - I would ofcourse had all suspensionparts painted black... It ended up red at that time, due to the painter was out of black - white, red and yellow was the only option...

Sorry for not update this thread, but I do tend to "forget" it sometimes as it is not that much visited...

Anyway, here is a pic from 8th of March. I had an appointment with the Norwegian authorities, for approval of my car. Norwegian laws are totally crazy, so this is a special day for me. Here I am, waiting....

Yesterday I was out with my dear friend Per Øivind, which has a E28 too. We have used the past two weeks installing an euro S50 b30 into his car. We took his car for a testdrive, and suddenly we were driving mine too...

In the end we stopped here in the neighbourhood and shot some pics. No clear cars, just nice cold weather and a lovely E28 day...

The reason for testfitting the 17"s, was that I was suddenly unsure of what color to the Alpina Decor.

My plan the whole time was black, but suddenly I was uncertain.

So a Norwegian fellow did a fast session with the photoshop for me, to show me an example of how the different colors looked like with the correct rims on. Wanna see yourself?













I must admit that I normally do not "loose track" in what I do. But this time I had to change my point of view. The golden Alpina striping has been a trademark for me ever since the 80s - the brutality and contrast-consept from Alpina has dominated a whole world. So I went for the choice of gold.

Not everybody agrees with me, but I cannot please everybody. Gold brings me memories back to Alpina's golden days - and golden stripes are now chosen.

Gold or Silver look better than Black(not a Alpina option).....I think the Silver makes the car color pop better but Gold will look great also. You made a very good decision.

On my Car it was spec'd with Gold from Alpina but I thought Silver looked better on Diamanschartz (I think this is mis spelled) So I bought both Silver and gold....and Silver is on it presently.

I think that's a great choice. Black works if you are trying to be subtle, but I'm not sure how subtle an Alpina car can be. The gold plays off the Sepang Bronze really nicely. Sometimes, you have to play off of things as you go.

As for the wheels, your car didn't come with 17s did it? I thought they had the covered-lug 16s on the late cars. Interesting how they make the car appear. Either way, looks great.

I too prefer silver or gold over the black. I think it will turn out great!

I am not quite sure, to be honest. The #0238 was Diamantschwartz of color, but the description in the Alpina papers I have does not say anything but the fact that Dcor was ordered. I may remember wrong here, but all my papers are still at the local authorities due to the case of aprovement. I will hopefully get an answer right after eastern, and all my papers back.

Anyway, I think gold will treat the car with the deserved respect.

Thanks Chris, for those wellplaced words. The carbuild was meant to be subtle, but as you say: how subtle can an Alpina from the 80s be? This is why I changed my mind, and went for the golden decor. My memories back to the 80s are Alpina=contrast, brutality and golden stripes... So instead of sticking to my plan, I followed my heart.

The #238 came from Alpina with 16" rims, with covered Lug. The rims that came with the car when I bought it was 8"x17" in front and 10"x17" rear.

A good friend of mine owns THE #003 Alpina B10 BiTurbo, and he gave me some 8,5"x17"s in trade for my front 8"x17". So now I have 8,5" and 10"x17" for my car.

And just for the record... 16"s aint gonna happen... The 16"s you have seen on the pic comes from a B9, I have just used them due to that I did not want to use the 17"s during resto. They are not mine either.
