You're probably right, and it's probably better to just let it go. But the engine/transmission is still in the car somehow. It's been moved forward a few inches. Had a good b35, 265 with m5 clutch, 3.91 lsd. I could still get a few other parts off, spoiler, radio, tail lights, speakers, headliner, wheels need a full rebuild and the front right wheel center would have to be replaced. Their first offer was to sell the car back to me for $900, dropping the check down to $1300. I kind of laughed they thought the car was worth 900 in the condition it's in but only 1300 more if it were still driving.

You know, with offers like that I always imagine someone in the background in near hysterical laughter trying to stifle it so they can't be heard because they know it's a joke. I hear all this talk about insurance fraud, but this is the insurance fraud I see. Except it never gets prosecuted.

Well it's been two years so it's time to change the food in our truck emergency bags. If I suddenly stop posting, it could mean I ate the old one.

Surprisingly, two of my three children did not know the meaning of the word "castrate." They learned it when I described what should happen to people who install those blue headlights.
I *heart* teachable moments.

I was at a grocery store today, and a German couple was walking a few paces ahead of me. The guy sneezes, and the wife turns to him and says,
"Gesundheit!" I always wondered if Germans really said that, or if it's just an American thing; I guess that's as close to an answer as one could ask for.

Hopefully you get some time to see if trees make a sound when they fall in the forest with no one around! This is important research.

BMW i today announced that it will loan the Los Angeles Police Department a BMW i3 electric vehicle for twelve months in the first US test of the innovative EV in an authority fleet. The BMW i3 test vehicle, which sports the famous LAPD black and white livery, complete with rooftop light-bar, will undergo a year of rigorous testing. It will also be featured at public events throughout the loan period.
“The decision by the Los Angeles Police Department to undertake this evaluation highlights the compelling nature of the BMW i3 as a versatile, sustainable vehicle,” noted Christine Fleischer, Manager – BMW i for BMW of North America.
“By virtue of its innovative design and construction from leading-edge materials, the i3 is a brilliant fit with the technology-driven research philosophy of the LAPD. This will be a valuable learning experience for both BMW and the Department.”
The LAPD will benefit from the compact size and agility, thanks to the light-weight Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic construction of the BMW i3. The very tight turning circle of the i3 will make maneuvring around the streets of Los Angeles a breeze. The LAPD will have access to the large, conveniently located network of BMW i Centers, making servicing of an i3 fleet convenient and cost effective.
Watch for the “LAPD” BMW i3 on the streets and at events around Los Angeles over the coming months.

I'm going to assume that the i3 the LAPD will be using has the "range extender" feature? Still, a 150 mile range isn't much for a patrol vehicle.
Is this the first example of a BMW being used for US law enforcement?

No, I think BMW's donated one or two to South Carolina after they opened the factory there. Mostly PR I think but I'm sure it
could have pulled people over.

Maybe cars? But not motorcycles. BMWNA donated a few Beamers to our local PD after 9/11.
(That was when we had no one on the PD certified to ride the bikes. That changed fast with a few guys getting trained up. Years later the Beamers are gone and the locals use their Harleys every chance they get. They never needed bikes before the donation, yet now they buy new ones as the old ones age. Ironic.

I guess I should've been more specific, but yea, I meant 4-wheeled vehicles.

Someone (me) ate all of those little packets of icing that come with the toaster strudels. So now we have naked strudels and some very unhappy campers. I'm outta here and going to the pick-n-pull, where I know I am wanted. snif.

Done with the insurance claim. 4500 and I was able to get the obliterated hunk delivered back to me. Busted knuckles are in my future I'm afraid.
