You're probably right, and it's probably better to just let it go. But the engine/transmission is still in the car somehow. It's been moved forward a few inches. Had a good b35, 265 with m5 clutch, 3.91 lsd. I could still get a few other parts off, spoiler, radio, tail lights, speakers, headliner, wheels need a full rebuild and the front right wheel center would have to be replaced. Their first offer was to sell the car back to me for $900, dropping the check down to $1300. I kind of laughed they thought the car was worth 900 in the condition it's in but only 1300 more if it were still driving.

You know, with offers like that I always imagine someone in the background in near hysterical laughter trying to stifle it so they can't be heard because they know it's a joke. I hear all this talk about insurance fraud, but this is the insurance fraud I see. Except it never gets prosecuted.

No, I think BMW's donated one or two to South Carolina after they opened the factory there. Mostly PR I think but I'm sure it could have pulled people over.

Maybe cars? But not motorcycles. BMWNA donated a few Beamers to our local PD after 9/11.

(That was when we had no one on the PD certified to ride the bikes. That changed fast with a few guys getting trained up. Years later the Beamers are gone and the locals use their Harleys every chance they get. They never needed bikes before the donation, yet now they buy new ones as the old ones age. Ironic. )

That's why I don't use E39 wheels anymore. Not worth the trouble.

Done with the insurance claim. 4500 and I was able to get the obliterated hunk delivered back to me. Busted knuckles are in my future I'm afraid.
