Those poor kids. It's like they were on a modern day Bataan Death March. You're lucky no one called CPS on you.

So I've been waiting on an e30 part from the Fatherland and watching the progress has been very entertaining.

3 days to go 25 miles from JFK Customs to the Jersey sorting center.

6 days to go the 34 miles to the Bethpage sorting center.

To save time, I should have driven over and picked it up myself.

Wasn't sure if this should go here or in the June Joke Thread, so I flipped a coin. Wherever it belongs, it's good for a laugh. :D

If you've seen Fury Road, this is only somewhat random. Scroll down and read the reviews.

Would be funny except that Neil Armstrong took way more than 37 photos on the moon. Curious thing is he had the camera the whole time, not Buzz Aldrin. Result: no photo of the first man walking on the moon, just the stills from the video of him descending the ladder and a reflection in Buzz's helmet.

Occupying a space that isn't a parking spot plus it lacks the plate. Chuck wins.

I cleaned out the sawdust catch drawer on my table saw a while back using a shop vac. It was pretty wild seeing the strata left behind from the different projects it had been used for. I see lots of hem-fir, some red cedar, some western cedar, and probably a lot of junk from plywood.

Image

I sold the saw not too long after taking that photo; I've been missing it. A friend bought it, and has granted me visitation rights, but it's just not the same. :(

I'm sure others have seen this, but I hadn't until yesterday. Make sure you turn the sound up.

That reminds me of this. Seems the sound of revs are faster than the action.

Much like Crockett's Daytona, they dubbed the sound of the Ferrari. It was shot using a Mercedes.

Ha - I always wondered about that. The sound never seemed right, and actually the speeds aren't that impressive. I always liked Climb Dance better.

I’m at a work related convention downtown.
It’s really boring so I’m spending most of the time watching bananas being unloaded.

I’m also keeping an eye on the pool for distressed swimmers. Once a Junior Lifeguard, always a Junior Lifeguard.

My new hero:

Image
Mark Gubin may sometimes work as an artist and photographer, but he’s a full-time wind-up merchant.
Decades ago, he realised that passengers landing at Milwaukee airport would see his house as they descended.
So he painted ‘WELCOME TO CLEVELAND’ on his roof.
According to Mr. Gubin, the sign has caused a lot of confusion for flyers over the years. Which, of course, is its intention.
He recalls one incident where passengers on a Denver to Cleveland flight due to stop in Milwaukee en route started panicking because they thought the plane had skipped its layover.
And Mr. Gubin still keeps a letter from former Common Council president Ben E. Johnson, in which Mr. Johnson complains the sign is causing ‘outrage and panic’ among air passengers.
Keep up the good work, Mr. Gubin.

Watched a car come up hard behind me, pull up next to me at the stop sign and honk.
I was in the minivan with a bike rack (no bikes) on the back, and the wife and kids inside.
I rolled down the window to acknowledge the honker, not sure if he knew me or something was falling of the car, etc.
The following 'conversation' ensued:
Him: "TURN SIGNALS, know what they are?!"
Me: "I'm sorry, did I pull in front of someone?" (Knowing full well I hadnt, but in pure wtf mode at this point)
Him: "They're the law, and courteous, you have to use them!"
Me: "Okaaaay??? When did I not use it?"
Him: "Right now. You pulled off to the right at the stop sign (dead end) to make a right turn, but you still need to use your turn signal!!!"
Me: " Whatever"
As I start to pull away he peels out going left.

My wife and I looked at each other quizically and I commented "and you think I'm a judgemental driver?" ;)

Regardless of your political views. Marine One (not sure if the President was in at the time but that's the point, right?) just flew over. God Bless us all!

If the dates in the article are correct, he was 37 and she was 17 when he got the tattoos. Kinda pervy if you ask me.

Take-off and landing requires wave heights less than 0.5 meters and a "clear run" of about 500 meters. That pretty severely limits where you can take off and land. It doesn't look terribly maneuverable at speed, either, so that's another concern.

That is pretty cool.

Have you heard of the new "dove" satellites? "A line scanner for the earth". They're 1000th of the mass as a traditional satellite, take new (higher resolution than ever) detailed pictures of the earth every day, etc., etc.

Wow, I hadn't seen that. Very cool. Curious that their gallery doesn't have any time-lapses/gifs.
