385g Airbus 310 model flying indoors:
http://vimeo.com/30327269
9 servos, retractable landing gear, steerable nose wheel, marker lights on the wing tips and nose wheel, illuminated interior, strobe on the tip of the tail. (Purportedly the fuselage contains a bladder filled with helium.)

I'm impressed, but their definition of "flying indoors" is a little different than mine. Also, isn't using helium kind of cheating?

Uh, that's not random. Please don't ruin a lighthearted thread with heavy political/moral stuff. Kthxbai.

There has been an Elf on the Shelf making its way around our office this month, and this is how he looked last Friday morning, stuffed inside a 20 oz. Coke bottle.
I had Friday off, so didn't get to see things unfold live, but got an earful from the lady who brought the thing here. She asked me this morning if I was responsible for that, and I had to fess up. She said she almost cried when she saw it that morning; she seriouly thought I had pushed him in there through the mouth of the bottle!
Somehow she didn't notice how I had cut the bottle around the middle and taped it back together, and taped the label back in place!

On this day in history (1988), NYPD detective John McClane thwarted a terrorist plot at the Nakatomi Tower in Los Angeles, leaving 25 dead.

Dude, you're my hero of the moment. That's outstanding.

The only thing that could've made that any better would've been if you had managed to get his face pressed up against the clear part of the bottle.

It's that shit stuck under my shoe
It's that smell inside the van
It's my bed sheet covered with sand
Sitting through a shitty band
Getting dog shit on my hands
Getting hassled by the man
Waking up to an alarm
Sticking needles in your arm
Picking up trash on a freeway
Feeling depressed everyday
Leaving without making a sound
Picking my dog up at the pound
Living in a tweaker pad
Getting yelled at by my dad
Saying I'm happy when I'm not
Finding roaches in the pot
All these things I do
They're waiting for you.

My humble little blog site usually gets around 500 hits a week, but
somebody* linked one of my
recent posts in a thread on
this site yesterday, that resulted in my stats being blown straight through the roof. Nearly 7,000 hits yesterday, and another 4,000 and counting today? Holy carp.
Charlie? Is that you? ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Hahahahahaha.
I was fucking around on Reddit the other day and posted a pic of the family skiing in Seahawks gear. It got no love. I asked my son to up vote it. He couldn't find my account. I had been shadowbanned sometime in the past 4 years and didn't know it (I don't use Reddit much).
After I got the ban lifted (you have to grovel) I decided I'd try to boost my karma by posting stuff. I saw your blog post and thought "that's interesting" but couldn't find anywhere on Reddit to post it.
Then I thought, might as well post it to Hacker News. You never know.
Sure enough:

I feel so... used.
And to think a post about a garage door got that started. Weird. I don't keep track of my stats very closely (why?) but a friend of mine who gets a feed from Hacker News filled me in. I was mildly shocked, but it made sense when I saw the OP's handle. Thanks!
FWIW, my Adsense income made a similar jump too. The last time I got a check from Google was about a year ago (they only pay out when you hit $100.) Up until yesterday I was up to about $50, but added another $4.93 yesterday, and $4.02 so far today. I guess I owe you a beer; I'll share
a 6-pack with you next time you're in town.

Went to a Friendlys today for lunch. Not my most favorite of places, but oh well.
We walk in and there's a bunch of people standing around. So I walk up to what is clearly the hostess station and wait. I waited for probably 3-4 minutes before someone came over and helped me. Give my name and number of seats we need and this woman comes up from my left, "ACTUALLY, we were here first!" All rude and offended. Then another party speaks up that they also were there before I was.
Apparently I somehow "cut" a line that didn't even exist. I just had the functioning brain cells to walk up to the hostess station, so I don't care how long you were aimlessly standing there! I didn't say anything, I just waited until we were called, but I got a good chuckle over the utter stupidity of the whole thing and had a giant ice cream for dessert. People are oddly stupid creatures.

Touché
It's company issue so there's not much I can do about it. It does serve its purpose though.

That guy totally knew what he was doing with that tattoo. After all, it takes a bitchin alternator to make a bitchin sound system blow your hair back. He's got batteries tattooed on his other arm, and fat power cables around his chest.

Speaking of nerd alert - There are a LOT of dead animals on the road.....
Does anyone remember the X-Files episode where the alien/creepy dude was working for the local Public Works Department as the dead animal cleaner-upper, and he would eat the dead animals to sustain himself?
I think about that guy almost every time I see a dead deer. In my part of the rural-ex-urbs, that's multiple times per day.

My grandfather moved up to Idaho for his retirement like 15 years ago and he does that. Still not sure how much it grosses me out to think about it.

In my former life, an "acting manager" typed a full page incident report into the subject line of an email. You should have seen some of the replies...
