So I walk in at one of our satellite shops today for the weekly meeting/safety talk and one of the guys has a bullfrog on a leash. OK, not a big frog, or else I hear his legs would have been breaded and in olive oil in a frypan, but still, walk in to a frog on a leash. :brickwall:

Where, MENSA meetings? I found them to be an odd bunch. Fun, but odd.

Around 6 or 7 Oklahoma legislators showed up for a meeting today at the state capitol. They were talking of allowing trials of CBD oil for kids with epilepsy.
It is a step forward in this backwards state I live in. They had a few advocates, parents who had kids with seizure's speak. One has already moved to Colorado, among a few others parents with kids w/seizures who have moved there. The last person to speak was the head of OBN, Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics. What gets me is the key phrases used in discussion. Non intoxicating. Non addictive. They are oh so worried about the big devil, THC. Can't have any CBD oil with more than 0.3 % THC in these trials. One of the doctors that testified drove up from Texas. Specialist in pediatric epilepsy. The side effects from the pharmaceuticals those kids take is way worse than the benefit of more THC than 0.3%. One of the kids parents are related to one of the senators. The little girl has a large part of her brain removed & has a pacemaker type device in her head to help stop seizures. Mom & Dad carry a small magnet they pass over her when they see a seizure coming on. Must be a hall effect switch in there ? She still takes loads of pharmaceuticals too.

Oklahoma spends about $20 million a year housing approximately 1500 inmates who were arrested for cannabis only.
Colorado gets $20 million in tax revenue from cannabis sales, what, every 6 months ?

They don't pay attention to studies where THC kills cancer, or any of the health benefits. They are so concerned that someone is going to fake epilepsy to get CBD oil if they allow it have more than 0.3% THC. So Oklahoma is going to be one of the next few states that has a "CBD oil" law. That is a positive step. Inspiring but depressing to listen to the legislators & the head of OBN discuss thinking of changing the laws. I don't know if it's ignorance, greed (private prison money donations to campaigns, forfiture - seizing assets laws), or maybe we just have to be 20 years behind the west coast.

Oh, and I finally got a used heater valve that doesn't leak. But I had to replace the insert. Had a good used insert. and a new one that doesn't want to fit too well, now that there made by what's it el cheapo brand. I wish I had more time to wrench on my cars. Sold a couple of M10 blocks this past weekend & a 2002 diff. to a nice guy who races a top chopped off 320i at Hallet. Yea $ 180 in my pocket., wait, it's gone

Son (and daughter; yay!) home from college. Heads out to friends house tonight in Maytag. Gets pulled over the second he leaves driveway for forgetting to turn on lights. Warning only. Whew.

Apparently he's remembered how to drive a stick.

SO I replaced a water heater last weekend. Had not done any DIY plumbing for awhile. Blew $60 on a crimp tool for those copper crimp rings for PEX pipe. My first introduction to pex. Still had a need to sweat a few copper bits together. But the pex stuff is kinda cool. Makes me think plumbers got it made, Pex crimp tool makes it too easy. Also used a few of the shark bite connectors, the ones you just push the pipe into the connector & it's done. Also too cool, but how long before those things leak ? And how long will my cheapest on the market, made in USA, GE heat pump electric water heater last before it craps out? They get lots of bad reviews, compressor leak, failure etc.. Whole long list of error codes. I'll hang on to the old one for a backup. It was working OK. I actually got the extended warranty on the new one, just in case it craps out at year 9 or 10.

I wonder if that's where the phrase, "Party 'til the cows come home" came from.

I heard "Borderline" today and remembered how my 9th grade girlfriend took it so hard when we broke up. She was sad, but still blew me that day after school. Later we took her grandpa's credit card to the mall and I bought her a bunch of cool stuff.
I can't find her on Facebook for some reason.

I'm liking my M30 E28 more an more after 2 years of ownership. Because it had been rear ended before I bought it, it's body damage to the rear panel is more than I want to pay to get a proper body shop repair. So it's a daily driver. But it has so much good going for it. Strong motor, doesn't burn any oil. Original single stage Zinno paint. Yea it has a few dings, but at least most of it's confined to passenger side front fender. Came with aftermarket short shifter installed. Grunt's bushings in the front end & I haven't touched the front end yet, no need to, shocks & springs seem OK. I've repaired a bunch of things since I got it. Cruise control had been removed, installed that. AC compressor had been removed, but it came with a brand new in the box, still sealed in plastic wrap compressor, so installed that & refurbed the AC. Diff mount was shot, but came with a new one. Trunk hinge was broken on one side, but came with a good used one. Driveshaft had a bad vibration over 3K RPM, but I had a "free one" sitting on my back porch from a "free" parts car to cure that. Subframe bushings were shot, replaced those with HD meyle. Rear muffler was missing, but bought a new crappy what's it's brand to put on there, I think that was the most expensive single part so far. Had to fix vac leak under hood early on, replaced the rubber boot on throttle body to intake & just replaced the plastic elbow with the rubber BMW replacement this morning. Had to replaced drivers door lock. I get 16 to 18 mpg, in town, but that's about what I expected. Oh yea, loose banjo bolt under valve cover, found that early on. Transferred tech edge wideband 02 setup from my 528e early on too. Yea, I only like it. Someday a 1.3 conversion, BBK & then maybe ( nah, I'll never find time) put a megasquirt on it. And I still gotta replace the hangy down metal bracket under/behind the front valance on passenger side, since the car met a parking curb or something before I bought it. Then I will be able to bolt on the new factory skid plate & maybe a better looking, un-cracked front bumper, when I find one. probably a dozen other issues I've fixed but I covered most of the repairs. Yea, I only like it. ;)
