I think the wheels need to be a darker hue--they are too silvery for a bad ass bronze Hartge. I would do this color:

The car is stunning - period correct - those wheels make the car, you've got to look real hard to see the resto-mod's, they are done very tastefully. The bar has been raised !!

RonP proved me wrong. I said earlier I don't like the 3-piece wheels. I was wrong. The whole car just looks exquisite.

Thanks, I've been dying to see pics! Ron, I'm sorry to hear about the tires. I hope I didn't steer you wrong on the fitment! :shock: Are the shoulders too square to tuck into the fenders? What sizes did you end up with? I thought I saw that they were Kuhmos from some earlier photos but then it looked like you switched them maybe?

Looks great Ron, one question for you... as far as the rear spoiler do you do anything to keep the spoiler from scratching and wearing he paint on the top of the quarter panels when opening and closing the trunk? Every car i've seen with a Foha, Hartge, Zender, Alpina or any of those foam type spoilers that overhang the trunk lid love to wear paint away. So i was just curious.

when i saw/worked on the car on sunday, i believe the tires were 255/45 and 235/45 on 17x9.5/8.5, respectively. not 100% sure, or what brand.

It's quite simple to make if anyone is interested in making the similar protector.
Here's how I made mine.

Tools required;
lint free rags
70% isopropyl alcohol (you can buy them in pad form or bottled)
masking tape
3M clear vinyl
cardstock paper
pencil
scissors
patience

Steps;
1. Place masking tape onto the rear quarter panels where you think the spoiler will fit over.
2. Drop the deck lid down and trace the edge of the spoiler onto the masking tape.
3. Carefully remove the masking tape in one piece and lay it onto some cardstock paper.
4. Cut it out and there is your template.
5. Obtain some 3M clear vinyl and cut your templates out.
6. When done, go back to the car and place masking tape onto the quarter panel around the edge of the spoiler (same as what you did when tracing the edge onto the masking tape for your template). This time you're using the masking tape to create your boundary.
7. Open the rear deck lid and now you have the intended area that you wan to protect. Check if the template will fit within the masked area and trim your 3M vinyl where you think it's necessary.
8. Clean the surface area with 70% isopropyl alcohol. You may want to perform this more than once depending on how much wax you have on your finish. Let dry.
9. Peel back the 3M liner to expose the adhesive backing and use a small spatula/squeegee (a credit card works well too) and start from the center of the protector and work your way outboard to the edge to remove the air bubbles.
10. Sit back and have a cold one.

Great tip, Eddie! Here are some photos of the undercarriage. I am waiting for the new tires (had to go smaller) to be mounted so we are installing the exaust system and front sway bar. It is going to be really close to see if we can even finish the car to take to Monterey. Barring any further problems it will be there, but if not the M5 will be.

We didn't have time to put the Ireland exaust system on, but the old one will do for the trip.

Factory paint color that my paint store puts in a rattle can for me.

I don't ever trailer my cars. I hope that answers your question. :D

Took off the 235s and 255s and are now going with 225s and 245s.

Are you effin serious? Out of all the time, energy, and hard work I puit into the underside of this car, I am sorry that you couldn't find something positive to say. I did look at the pictures and then looked at the actual car on the rack after your comment and they look much worse in the photos.
I saw that too but did not want to point fingers.
Thanks, Duke. :D

Just one question RE the Ireland system. I thought the Hartge exhaust was one of the things that made the car different. I know at least the resonator section is different.

Very impressed with the outcome, btw. You raised the bar even higher on that car.

I could never own a car even close to that. I'd want to drive it always and it would just end up ruining it :?
