Not terribly out of the ordinary but it was very clean, worthy of a post here. A/C on and through the windshield.

Now this car is pretty special, full Euro SEC with original AMG options including the motor. Say it at a PNP today, ran into the owner picking a W126 in the yard.

No photos because I was not that close and it was moving quickly, but today I saw one of the most elusive creatures: I saw a...

1. Zinnoberrot BMW E28
2. In what appeared to be much better than average shape
3. In New York City! - in the Bronx! At the corner of Kippock St and Johnson St, in the Spuyten Duyvil area.

Almost certain this car had "shooting star" wheels (ugh) and it had shadowline tailights

If the owner is here in the forum, lemme tell you: Your car cut an impressive figure, take that from someone who isn't a Zinno fan. Would love to see it again!

Today I saw someone going through the drive through lane at McDonalds on a Segway.

I saw a Chevy Silverado with Quadrasteer being used for clearing snow. And the rear-steering was still working!

Saw this today as I was leaving a local yard. Wheelie bars caught my eye first, and as I approached it the tail lights gave a clue as to what it was but my brain was still trying to figure it out.
A 60's Chevy Nova II that was converted to a two seater with what looks like a Mercedes SL (early) hard top. Rough around the edges but an aggressive undertaking for sure. Interior das was all original except for the gauges.
Overall pretty cool.

I think that Chevy II's roof is stock, just trimmed back to match the shortened body.
It was kind of a thing for a while in the 1980s for people to cut down 1955-1957 Chevy four doors like that, they're all universally ugly in my opinion.

Agreee on the roof now that you mention it. I've never seen one cut down like that.

^^^I covet those T1/T2 Transporters. There is one in my neighborhood up on blocks half dismantled; obviously a stalled or failed restoration.
Although I would much prefer a T3 Synchro version.

That is about a '55 or '56. I had a '58 panel way back when they were dirt cheap. My tail lights were a bit bigger if my cloudy memory serves.

My favorite transporter was a next gen form a Porsche shop on the FL east coast. the Fuchs were the give away of work having been done. I was told all the running gear from a 3 liter 911 had been swapped. Was also told it was scary.

Thank you K Grau. Hard to tell, IIRC the tail lights on Charley's '56 were the same as the flat glass ones on my '60 transporter. There was a cool looking 69 ish 'Ghia in the picks Thanks guys keep 'em coming.

We finally had a "warm" weekend here in Los Angeles (starting to think we wouldn't get one), and it seemed everyone at the airport dragged their toys out of cold, dark caves they've been hiding in.
This was out: 1969 Plymouth Barracuda 340 Formula S

Alas it was only an automatic.

Couldn't snap a picture of it (405, heavy traffic), but I think it was the first ever Sahara Beige E28 I've ever seen. 528e. Very nice condition, even if the driver was not paying attention.

Something I don't think I've ever seen before, a mid-late 60s, Chevy Van, the narrow one vaguely VW bus sized, jacked up with 4WD running gear under it. Well I didn't crawl under it to see since it was going the other way on the freeway so I'm kind of assuming 4WD, but vaguely like the pic, that body. Except not that clean, although it was dark red.

While getting the company car washed this morning. I think this is the first non-car show e28 I've seen in 3 or 4 years. The lady driving it said her parents bought in new in 1987 and its been in the family ever since.

Over these past few weeks I have been making the trek up the coast and back along PCH through Malibu and see all sorts of strange cars:
First is a mid/late-'80's Toyota Van, Super Custom Limited, Turbo Diesel, RHD:
Image

It wasn't moving very fast (hello: turbo diesel) so I had to stop, let it pass then caught up with them to snap this photo as I passed them (again).

Then last Friday while we were stuck in stopped traffic behind an accident, I looked over and saw this parked on the side of PCH:
1965-66 Pontiac airport/resort limo (either a Bonneville or Catalina):

Neat car! It's a 1966 Catalina, most likely a conversion by Armbruster Stageway.

I found that in a Google search I did right after I posted that.
Wish I had been in a place where I could have parked and did a look-see. That thing was a beast, had to be over 25 feet long (flash on 'Jaws' dialog between Shaw and Dreyfus...).

Saw my first E28 in Nova Scotia since I came here in 2017  :D

This is quite out of the ordinary for Nova Scotia ;)

It was white LHD heading east on Hammonds Plains road approaching the Lucasville intersection on Saturday afternoon. Assumed to be returning from a Lions Club Show-and-shine event at Tantallon.

Best regards,

Mick

Quite the strange beast! Stroke of genius to base it on a front wheel drive Toronado so there's no drive shaft to deal with.

No actual pics, it was going by on the other side of the freeway. But a (sort of BMW) Vixen. The motorhome. Caught my eye for some reason, then as I looked closer I saw how low the roofline was. And very boxy. I've given milliseconds of thought to buying one and transplanting a M54B30 in it, doubling HP, but probably less than actual full seconds as for starters they're expensive. Looked something like the pic, including blue.

On vacation. I'll throw the true eye candy out there first. What appears to be a '58 Porsche, with a 1600 super engine that came in it. There's got to be what, like a dozen of those left in the US? Super clean with a steel sunroof. Parked a few cars away in a lot for a Basque restaurant in Winnemucca, NV, windows down, sunroof open. A hotbed of Porsche enthusiasts I'm sure. Gorgeous, probably nicer than new.

Previously in Madras Or, I saw a FIAT 124 Spyder, circa 2018 or so. If I've seen one before I didn't know I'd seen one. Kind of looked like a Mazda Miata, but not. At a gas station I talked with the guy, very friendly. He said, good eye, it's based on a Miata Chassis. Said it was a turbo and 185HP or so and scooted pretty good. Nice looking car even if they didn't sell very many.

In Moab, Ut, a place I wish I was in, I saw 2 E28s. One, dead at a shop, same place as last year. Could only see the ass end from the street, looked straight with burnt paint, big surprise in the desert. Then on the road to Potash, still on the paved 279 I think it is, a nice clean 535i pulled in for sightseeing or hiking. Might have stopped but the owner wasn't visible. No pics, you guys know what they look like.

And for the ultimate unicorn, on the Going to the Sun road in Glacier National Park, Montana, there was a Peugeot 404, convertible, with the top down. Red, heavily oxidized. But chugging up the mountain. I had a couple of friends with 404s way back when so I did recognize it, but I didn't even know they made a convertible option. A quick glance as I too was driving on the famous/infamous GTTS road it appeared to be straight and rust free. Can't say it's on my wish list, even though I think more highly of French cars than most, but a Red, 404, convertible, that's got to be the only one in this country.

Same day on the same street.
Not many places in the world where you’d see that these days.

I spied this black plate Alpine at 8:30AM yesterday parked next to the Plunge at Belmont Park in Mission Beach.
It is not where one would expect to find a car parked at any hour of any day. He probably knows someone...
