ride height does look like where i had it, the weight has got to be very similar, i noticed a big diffrence in height when i swapped in the m30 from the m20. how did you like the suspensions feel? hows the body roll without nice swaybars on it?

this thing originally had 14 inch style 5's, i threw 16's on it, you threw 15's on it and have set of 17's haha.

Outstanding!

Jake, can you take some video of the performance and post a link here? Silver over Cardinal is the best.

Suspension feels nice. It is a little bouncy in the front, but just a tad. I haven't driven it enough to give a full report. I actually upgraded the sways. It has factory M5 sways. It handles pretty damn flat.

haha yeah it will have every size tire on it. I hope to have the style 5s done and on it in a week or two. The tires on these wheels are too big and they are really old. Also two of them are snow tires.

Yup!! That's the plan

Yeah I can get some videos. I think my brother in law has a go-pro so I will see about borrowing it and getting some video.

...... maybe those shocks didnt like sitting or the motor weight/posistion is an issue. this car with its current setup was smother and flatter over bumps then my m3 with a new dinan setup, springs and koni's. and if anything billys should be less bouncy then a twin tube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HNXxvzd941c watch how composed it is over bumps a in 2009 about 3 min in i hit a hard bump at like 40ish

bilstein has a warrenty, if i can find some info on them or if its in that binder u have maybe you can get them rebuilt free, the warrenty only applies to the origional purchaser so you might need my info, pm me if you want help with this.

The bouncy issue I was having was the front strut nuts were a little loose...oops. It handles great! All I added was M5 sways.
Did you make the other videos on the youtube account?

I have put just over 400 miles on it and all seems good. I am going to change the cone air filter to an airbox as the intake sound is just too loud. You can't hear the engine at all really....just all air sucking.

I have an airbox from a e30 that fits and one from an e23 that is a little bigger but I think it will fit too. I will have some time this week to make something work. One plus about the e23 is the box is metal so I can change it as needed and weld to it.

I was hoping to have the AC charged by now but the heater core is leaking so I need to replace that first...

It was around 90 degrees here this weekend so I spent a lot of time inside. Worked on refinishing the wheels today. Right now the lips are just bare aluminum...with two coats of wax on them. I don't have them put together yet and I am at the point of should I powder coat the lips clear or leave them bare..... What do you all think?

I bought a keyless entry/alarm off ebay with the remote in the key. I didn't hook up the alarm part. Just the keyless. It is all hooked up. I just need to get the keys cut.

Worked on adapting the BMW cruise cable to work with the LS1 TB. Just need to add a crimp after the little snap thingy.

How is the cruise going to function with the LS1? Probably just not thinking it out all the way but the cruise in the e28 was a seperate control, right? So its just as easy as adapting the wire and leaving the original system in place?

by jakeb
yup...the BMW cruise is it's own system and not really connected electronically to the engine.

Correct. AFAIK, the e28 cruise has no connection to the ECU at all. Brake and clutch pedal cutoffs, speed signal, throttle control, and control stalk leads only.

Install the cruise control I did in the Tiger.

Piece of cake and is accurate as hell.

What's wrong with the E28 system?

Nothing wrong with the e28 system....

I wish I could make the BMW cruise setups work with non BMWs.

That's great progress Jake!

I recommend clear coating the lips. I've heard people complaining about the maintenance (mainly a lot of elbow grease) of bare aluminum and having to polish it frequently.

Keep it up. I'm looking forward to meeting you and your cool E28 sleeper.

I ended up clearing the lips....I don't want to have to deal with cleaning them.

Got the wheels all together, tires mounted, and on the car...I need to get some paint mixed up to match the centers so I can paint the center caps. LOVE them!

I am going to swap out the heater core this week as the current one is really leaking. I am also trying to get the cruise to work without much luck so far....

Isn't it summertime up there yet?
Bypassing the heater core worked for me, year round. :D

Good luck on the cruise. It's a luxury I'd be hard pressed to live without.

Looks very nice! I will be going this route soon :)

Hopefully next year I can make it out to Tedfest as well, so there will be not one but two LS powered beasts :)

how could I forget Todds...that is going to be one of the most badass cars I have ever seen.

I eschewed the turbo setup in favor of reliability in traffic with the AC cranking..and a place to put a condenser. Not too many places in Long Island/NYC/NJ where you can put 400hp to good use..

haha I just googled where Tedfest occurs...my Dodge Ram Diesel would make it there on one tank from my house. The E28..not so much LOL

Made a 600+ mile round trip to tedfest. Got 25mpg with 3 guys in the car, AC on, and a trunk full of tools. I am happy with that and I think I can get a little more out with adjusting the tune.

I really didn't take any pictures of my own car...my buddy took one right when we got there.

Had an AWESOME time.
