I love the detail that y'all are providing in your posts. Sounds awesome! I think I have enough for a novel already.

Ruh roh. I hope those two phrases don't coexist with each other in said novel.

Safe travels back to the west side of the continent. Hope all is well with everyone's vehicles after mention of a deer...yikes.

Special thanks to Sherman, Rodney, and Adam for twisting my arm into taking MARINE6 (My Cinnabar red 1988 M6) into the crucible that was RTT 2013. I had an incredibly good time. The gravel roads and shear cliffs were everything I hoped (and feared) they would be. The M6 proved that it deserves to wear the badge, and I, became a better driver (and managed not to die). It was great seeing the old "At The Vintage" crew and awesome getting to know the guys who have been doing RTT without me all these years. I'm hooked!
Also, thanks to Mario, Alex, and Chris for the 2013 ///M Zealots renactment! Our incredible photographer RMiddendorf got the shot PERFECT. You are the MAN Rodney! I've wanted to recreate that shot sicne I got my M6 eight years ago! Everything came together perfectly. The fact that I got to drive an E28 M5 and an E30 M3 this weekend made it all the more perfect. I told my cousin about the fun I had this weekend, and his reply was: "Damn, that sounds like ComicCon for BMW enthusiasts."

Semper Fi,

Orlando

I had a great time with y'all - Peter, Mark, Sia, Adrian, Mario, Alex, Rodney, David, Orlando, Adam, Greg, Noah, Grandad and the pup, Sherman, Pavel, "Chris&J - the e34 pilots" (sorry guys, too many Coronas), Billy and Chris...

I thoroughly enjoyed "The Crooked Road" on Virginia's Music Trail and others. Thank you, and we'll see you at the next event. A few shots from Abingdon, Va:

adrian in florida wrote:Same hose different pulley. AC compressor pulley was touching the lower rad hose during hard driving. I had a brand new AC belt installed during the rebuild I'm thinking it's possible the belt was slightly larger than before and the compressor got scooched a little closer to the hose this time. No worries it's all good rtt rocks folks are having a blast. Yesterdays route turned out great, food last night and commradere was fantastic. Today it's only 6 hours through the holler to get to the casino.. Yeeeeehaw
Just thought I'd comment here that all we saw of the H5S was taillights and dust. Adrian led the way before and after the AC pulley interfered with cooling. Peter, David and he patched it up roadside, pulled the belt and pushed on to Abingdon. That car is AWESOME! :haul:

Damn I had a good time, guys! Thanks for letting an e30 hang with ya. ;) That was some of the most fun driving I've ever done. Thanks to everyone who put it together, you guys are awesome. You're all a great bunch of lunatics. Have a safe rest of the drive and avoid the "deer!"

Wow, that was very high on my list of adventures! Thanks for letting me hang. Thanks for Rodney for all of the appetizers! Y'all are a great bunch and I hope to do this again next year.

Maybe think of including it with the possible 5er fest??

Me and Sherman just checked at a Hamptom Inn south of Nashville, TN.

Having some Modelo's and cigars in the spirit of RTT.

850miles left. I did ~600miles from Snowshoe.

I just made it home, maybe 30 mins ago. Having a cold one and going to bed.

The odometer read total of 3,459 mi since last Thursday 6.50AM when I left my house. That number needs to be verified with the actual maps. My initial calculations were sub 3k miles.

Personal record today of 890mi in 13 hrs, just stops for gas.

We pulled in about 10:15 last night after stopping for a last dinner on the road.
What used to be Cajun Charlie's, is now LeBleu's Landing Cajun Restaurant.
Next time through Sluphur, LA stop in, you won't be disappointed.

ODO reads 3133, without making the last day drive to and from Snowshoe. Sorry, no Garmin shot this year.

The Beast was a flawless performer from the get-go,
although I did have to swap out that left front tire David. ;)

Thanks fellas... :pimp:

I titled this pic I stole from Greg, "The Gas Stop".
