I was on the way to the gym and seen this out of the corner of my eye. I never thought the day would come, that I would ever appreciate seeing a Ford Pinto on the street. But, this car was pretty darn cool. Made me reminisce about the second car I ever owned, 1974 Banana Yellow, Mercury Capri. That little V6 was a screamer!

Pintos disappeared from MA decades ago. The little 4 banger was a stout little engine. Thats a good looking example Thanks for pic.

So my wife and I are out today checking out three different roofs, that my roofer sent us out to look at because we are having a hard time picking out a color we like. When leaving the last house, I look over and what do I see, the same darn green Pinto. The car was nowhere near where I took the picture the day before. If it had a For Sale sign on it, I would have been tempted to buy it. Glad you liked the photo "a"

I seen this beauty heading south on 280 freeway awhile back. Super sharp example of a 535is in what looks to be all original condition, just how they should be! Must be owned by someone here.

A gorgeous mid 60s VW double cab pickup. Everybody was stopping to look at it. Some of the bodywork was a little ripply, but otherwise it looked like new. New rubber, new upholstery, Safari windows. I tried to keep my drool off the paint. Also a much more mundane Rabbit Diesel pickup. Those things were kind of the holy grail back when I was into VWs but still not worth much at the time. Now I guess they're stupid expensive, like $20K+.

It was a crazy traffic day today, double the normal morning commute time for me. Weather is 16 degrees and the roads have a hard packed mix of snow and freezing rain from last night that the ploughs couldn't scrape off.

Then there's this hero (or idiot)? I couldn't see what tires he had.

As I was pulling off I-494 onto France Avenue this morning, a guy in an e39 M5 was next to me - we gave each other 'the nod' :D and went our separate ways. I think I was better equipped for the weather in my 325ix than he was, though.

An absolutely gorgeous VW Cab at the hardware store the other day. Old guy driving it with his wife, I complemented him on it and chatted a bit. He picked it up in Germany new and unabashedly called it a garage queen. I figured it had been repainted with a new top but he assured me it was completely original. That top especially looked brand new, it doesn't spend much time outside summer or winter. It was stunning, the pic doesn't do it justice.

Hopefully this isn't the same guy you saw Stuart. I snapped this pic this morning by my work. It's an e39 M5, I drove by on the way in and did a doubletake when I saw the trunk badge.

Hmm...I hope not. Can't tell what color that car in the median is, the guy I saw was driving a black one.

These folks seem to be enjoying a cool, but sunny day in Cali. Made me wish I had a ragtop, can't say I wasn't a bit jealous!

While doing a bit of disaster recovery work recently I saw this in a staging area, complete with County emblem on it. We try to fulfill stereotypes of the Wine Country here. What else is a poor civil servant to drive.

Image

Then there was this at the local grocery store the other day. Not a Corvette fan, I've never liked them. Except for this body. Looked good, but I guess at the price they are now most of them do.

Image

And then, driving home a week or two ago I see a first gen Ford Taurus on the freeway. At night, rainy so no pics. But aside from nearly all of them being gone, even out here, something caught my eye. It was a SHO. Haven't seen a first gen SHO in years. Not the cleanest, but driving.

A co-workers LTD. From what I understand it's pretty well hot-rodded. I'll have to ask her what's under the hood, suspension, and the drive line.

I haven't been here in a while because of the photobucket hosting thing. Now that I moved on from those scumbags, I have new cars. These are from the last few weeks...

No time for a real pic as it was going the other way at 45MPH, but something I hadn't seen in years, a Toyota Corolla liftback. C. 1980. The one I saw was orange, with recent paint and looked ok, but no creampuff in the half a second I had to peruse it. I don't know the numbers, but compared to now somewhat older, unusual BMWs such as Bavarias and New Class cars it's gotta be rare. Similar to this,

OK, this was as extraordinary as it gets, unfortunately didn't have time to snap any pictures.

So, I was out on an early afternoon walk through Downtown Brooklyn, and on a side street to that 3rd circle of hell known as Fulton Street Mall I spotted what I thought was an E28. E28s being out of the ordinary (for me), I decided to approach. But it wasn't an E28, it was an E12. Cool, let's get closer.

OH LOOK, the driver is inside, engine is on and he's just about to pull off... let's compliment his ride ("hey man, nice E12, don't see many of those... etc etc - car was black and a bit ratty).

Then it dawned on me: WAIT A SEC. Front air dam. Sports steering wheel. Stick shift  Rear air spoiler. \\\M on the grille.

Me: "Is this a... M535i"?
Driver: "yes it is"
Me: "oooooooooooooooohhhhhhhh wooooooooowww"

Guy told me he's had it for 3 years and has been slowly recovering it. I congratulated him and he drove away. Didn't get to ask too much else, I wonder if he's on this board. I'll be on the lookout, hope I see him again one day. Car even had the \\\M535i rear badge. Was it a genuine M? No idea, but the whole thing struck me as such.
