A '56 Nomad , and 55 post coupe. A couple of Model A pick ups . One was a roadster PU. And a pair of the fugliest new Buicks ever, I wondered if they were Chinese models. Buicks are big in China. Closer examination revealed that they weren't Buicks. They were Maserati quattroportes. Fug-Lee

I saw what looked to be a beige Oldsmobile Alero in a car park near Lörrach yesterday. That's a strange enough occurrence in Europe by itself, but this one had a Chevrolet badge on the trunklid. Not sure what that was about.

I think OCCoupe is driving up the prices of Coupes worldwide. This basketcase was seen at the gebrauchtwagenhändler lot a few weeks ago. I'm guessing they plan to revive it. I think they've got their work cut out for them.

Also, note the tow vehicle; Jeep. It's surprising how many of those things you see over here. Some with diesel engines, but many with the big rumbly American V8. Louder = Better for many here too.

Dumb question; what makes it a CSL vs. a CS?

I saw this Volvo Amazon in a parking garage near here last week. Looked to be a daily driver, or at least a regular driver. First one I've seen since being here.

The district we live in is Lörrach, so the license plates for local vehicles all begin with the LÖ. The Ö is pronounced kind of like "EE" but with your mouth puckered and your chin stuck out, so kind of a mix between "OO" and "EE". I can't help but see words in the license plates, and some of them are kinda funny, like this one. LÖ-ZA!

L stands for light, in E9 speak.

Saw this in the parking lot at the hardware store last Saturday evening. According to OcCoupe it's a McLaren. Sweet; can't say I've seen one before.

For the past couple weeks, on my way to work I've driven by an Acura NSX (the original one, not the one they just came out with) sitting in front of someone's house. Seems like an odd car to just be left parked out on the street.

I was driving down Main St in Mattapoisett the other day and I had to give way for a 35 foot yawl . It was on a self propelled cradle . Then I saw a daily driver Checker Marathon going around the Bourne Bridge rotary. Friday, I saw the same Checker 45 miles down Rt 28 in Orleans.

Today I saw a late-model BMW Touring with a badge that said it was am ///M550D; I thought it was a badge fake, but whaddyaknow, it's a real thing.

Image

I guess some people will throw an ///M badge on anything.

Wifey & I decided it'd be fun spending a Saturday afternoon testing driving cars. She wants to do Euro delivery on a new car next year (lease on the Q5 is up). In Bellevue, the MB dealer is next to the Porsche dealer, and she thinks she may want a Macan. So we decided to hit MB first...last MB she drove was my C63 which she really didn't like.

Anywho:

Image

Image

The GM for the MB dealer knows us well since she used to run the local Audi dealer and we've owned like 7 Audis over the years. She told the salesman to let us drive anything we wanted, so my wife said "my son was saying I should drive the S63 convertable." Of course my son was trolling, as he's prone to do. Julie had no idea an S63 convertable is a $200k car. We drove it. Holy sh**. Didn't take any pictures of the outside.

Image

We also drove a Panamera and a Macan. I'd driven a Panamera Turbo when they first came out and was impressed by how small it felt given it's size. Now that it's ~8 years old, it feels, well, old. The '17s are due in January and are basically all new.

IMO the Macan feels a lot like the Q5, just a lot nicer and sportier. Not sure if I like that or not. I think my wife does though.

Been a while since I added anything so here's a batch.

A rare Buick Nova
Image

A very early Ranchero

Image

64? Chevy Impala. Parked in a compact space, all 17 feet of it. :brick:

Image

OK, E23s might not be that rare, but a very clean one on vacation 1000 miles away from it's home.

Image

2CVs are unusual in and of themselves, but a panel truck 2CV?

Image

54? Chevy Coupe.

Image

Haven't seen one of these in years, a Datsun 810 or Maxima wagon. All too original.

Image

This late model Benz isn't so special, except that someone has their name cast/molded like the model badge. I've never seen that before.

A friend of ours with BMWNA has an i8 take-home for a spell, and it came over for some pictures with the e28. Neat to see the cars side-by-side. Fast car, nice to drive, all that weight down low makes it fabulously steady in turns.
