Hi Kronus. Any news on getting the Aussie units posted yet ?

Figured I'd update this, I installed mine last night and had a few tips to share. The included directions are a little cryptic, but in retrospect this is not a difficult install so I'd rate them adequate. They're just a bit daunting when you first read through them due to the poor photos and unconventional language.

You will need to completely disassemble your instrument cluster. While it might be possible to carve out the plastic in the light bar area that you need to remove without doing so, it's much easier to cut out when disassembled. Plus you do not want to chance damaging anything or getting plastic dust all over the instruments and circuit boards. I use a Dremel with a cut off wheel, and using it like a scalpel, I ran it up and around the part you see in the photo below. After it was cut through I had to turn the panel around and cut through a few more standoffs before it would completely separate. Here's a comparison to give you an idea of what and where I cut.



Another minor issue how the heads of the screws that are used as standoffs to support the display fit in the black grooves. When you drill the holes at the approximate locations of the red circles in the photo below, the screw heads end up being right up against the inside edges of the valleys, where I drew the green lines (zoom in). I drilled oversized holes so that I had some flexibility and could move the screws into the optimum location, and it ended up being very tight against the edge which meant I could not use washers there.



After it was all put back together it looks like this. Ignore the two little gray wires in the long black wire. You can see the screws I mentioned earlier.



I don't quite understand why there are two red power wires instead of one common one feeding the black box but perhaps there's a reason. I jumpered mine into the same power source, switched by the ignition as recommended. The black box itself is quite large, which I also don't understand but it fit nicely behind the power window circuit breaker switch in the kick panel so it's a moot point. I'm still waiting for the M12–1.5 x 1/8" NPT adapter to arrive so I don't have the pressure sender installed yet. I'm planning to install it in stock location of the OE pressure switch which is in the oil filter housing on the S38. For now I will put the temp sender in either the drain plug in the oil pan, or in the drain in the oil filter canister, however that option looks a little dicey because it doesn't thread in very far and it appears that it may leak. Ultimately I'll fab up a small manifold to screw in to the pressure switch location, which will hold both pressure and temp for the new display. Per the instructions, grounding the white wire registers .0 and then settles to .3 in the pressure display. Grounding the blue wire spikes the temp side up to 198° before clearing. Here's a photo of the finished install.

Thank you very much for the write up and photos. I really do appreciate your effort. If possible could you also post photos of the jumpered the red power wire and where you fitted the black ground wire. Looks like a nice neat job.

No, we have not yet paid. We would like to pay, and receive, as agreed. If you are able to, could you please ask Dmitriy what is happening here. For all we know, he may have a extenuating circumstances.

I texted him. No reply. Not sure what's up. I'll stop by his shop on Friday when I go to play hockey in Belmont to see if I can find out more. Stay tuned.

Also selling my unused setup with senders, Celsius display, with printed instructions included, $SOLD

I changed my mind because of the size of fitting the box under the dash. I also already had a oil pressure gauge in my car.

If anyone is daunted by the cluster mods I can offer this as a service for a reasonable cost. I have spare clusters which would help speed part of the process and I can guide you through the rest. PM me and we can talk.

I've been taking high resolution images during my assembly. I've been lazy about putting it together, and your wiring choices may vary, given I'm plumbing mine into the aftermarket radio.
I'll post what I have when my cloud backup (500gb. Could be a while at 750kbs) finishes syncing and I can move files without all sorts of duplication errors.
