What out of the ordinary cars did you see today?

While it's not uncommon to see BMWs on a day to day basis here, it's usually just a well worn e36 or maybe e39, but today I saw a tastefully modified e30 Cabrio, a clapped out e34 with rust, dents, and pulling a trailer, and a nice looking lowered e38 on M-parallels. Still haven't seen an e28 though.

And yesterday I saw a Porsche Cayenne pulling a camper that was at least 24' long. In my head I knew the Cayenne to be a capable SUV with a decent pulling capacity, but I don't think I had seen one in the US that had so much as a receiver hitch on the back, much less actually pulling a trailer. I was so totally nonplussed that I didn't even think to pull out a camera.

Same bloke who owns the 959 brought his CLK DTM in to have some cosmetics touched up. I'm not a Benz guy but an SLR powered, carbon fibre C class is pretty enticing.

I saw a 1996 Impala SS today. Black. Gorgeous condition. I think it was likely the original owner and the car has to be garaged as even the license plate was perfect. Unfortunately, I was never in a position to get a good photo of it.

A plain vanilla first gen Falcon station wagon circa 60-63 . Tons of MG Bs and finally an MGA A bee-yoo-tiful XK 120 convertible . A 36 Ford 5 window coupe. Ford didn't build a better looking car until the 64 Galaxy came out

^^ One of those has been parked and for sale for almost 2 months along my daily commute. I've meant to get pictures, but never stopped. White car with a black vinyl roof. Not unattractive if you're into those big girls.

The '84 Hurst Olds and '85 Monte Carlo SS that were parked for sale with it have already been snatched up.

Saw an Alfa Romeo Spyder drive by this evening; it's not the rarest of cars, but I've never seen one before, and it looked spectacular in blue. It sounded fantastic too as the driver accelerated up the hill and out of town. Of course, my cell phone had been conveniently left in the apartment, so no pic. Same thing happened a couple of nights ago when a Lambo Gallardo rolled by out front. Just no time to grab a camera!

There is an e36 Touring that parks along the street near the school, and I've been thinking it looked a little unusual... Then it dawned on me that it looks unusual because they weren't sold in the US, so I'd never seen one before. It's not a bad looking automobile. I'll have to snap a pic one of these first days.

I do work for a guy in a retirement neighborhood and i see this parked outside everyday. I talked to the owner one day and said it was a one owner 450hp prototype 930, its a 77 so i dunno about that but the car is in all original condition. Sadly he doesnt seem to give a shit about the car so it sits outside all year, with the car cover half on. And ya the camaro gets the carport.

Well, it is not exactly a car… more like an amalgamation of many cars. It is located at a body shop in Stillwater OK.
Story is it was built for owners in Thailand. Arrived very different than what was contracted. Body shop disassembled, repainted and added its touches. Nice detail added.
Looks to be 18'-20' high.

Looks cool, but exactly zero points unless it can jump up in the air and turn into a truck before it hits the ground.

Dug this thing out of a shed, replaced a reference sensor and fuel pump and got it fired up for the first time in 10 years. It's a genuine UK B9 but with an unusal spec sheet. It started as an early Polaris 528i, but was converted by Alpina to a dirty M30B34 with unknown performance modifications, and fitted with an M-Tech kit and Alpina clothed Scheel front seats/rear seats/steering wheel/gearknob/closed lug 16's and instrument cluster. Unsure on the suspension and exhaust spec at this stage and unfortunately the cluster's original speedometer was swapped out for compliance when it was imported back in the 90's, but it's a good otherwise unmolested project for the local buddy of mine who's adding it to his collection. We didn't get a chance to drive it, but the engine fired right up and sounds very strong which is a relief so we'll pick it up next weekend and go from there with the rest of the running gear.






We also went an dug a second Alpina B10 from another shed this evening which I'll be working on for a few weeks before it ends up with the new owner in QLD. No pics as it's dark, and the the iFail doesn't like darkness but it was an interesting day nonetheless.
