I honestly expected the E9 board to top this place, seeing as it's an older car, older demographic, but jesus christ, you people are just insane. You're all crazy in-laws.
The E9 lads were pretty tame compared to the reception you got here, huh? Though many did not prefer the appearance of the Stanceworked E9, nonetheless we appreciated the effort and the fact that it is your car to do with what you want. Keep doing it.

Not true. I do both. The key is tasteful, useful mods, and no destruction of the character and spirit of the car. Even if it is your car if you start doing stupid shit, you'll get called out on it. That includes purists. Who would argue that the sealed beams are best because they came with the car originally? Only fools. Who would argue that purple HIDs in poorly designed plastic parabolic reflectors are better than E codes because they are newer and more stylish? A different set of fools.
I am not saying that there are not bad or distasteful mods out there.....
I've been called out by some "purists" just because a good and proven upgrade was not how the car was originally intended (even for not using the right exhaust tip). Fools? Maybe.
I personally LOVE the look of the super low cars with big wheels / low profile tires. BUT I would personally never do that to my car becuase it would take away the driving pleasure for me - especially in the city.
Jeeezzz, com'on guys......it's Hot Rodding plain and simple. It's about taking a car you like or love and modding it and trying to turn into a PERSONAL expression of how YOU think the car can be improved or perfected.
Taking such offense at the words of a "fluff" piece written on the internet is as immature as you've accused the owner of this car being. More so, in my opinion, the way I read this thread, he has actually showed more restraint.
ATTACKING someones car like this is just sad. People who think somehow that they can stand in judgement over others cars....well, sure when I'm at the local car show....I say this can be improved or that is ugly....but I SURE AS HELL WOULDN'T SAY IT IN FRONT OF THE CARS OWNER.
