But credit really has to go to a heck of a lot of AA friends over these years, many no longer around, who help me when I need help, including kicking my butt to keep my focus on what my one real problem is, drugs! Everything else is just a situation, fairly easy to deal with, as a sober person with a clear head. The disease may still get me, but right now it's being managed as it should be. I am very fortunate, indeed, as it has taken away a great many people in my life... too many, infact, who had their own ideas on how to deal with this disease, that failed and cost them their lives. And it is still killing 2.5 million people a year, world wide. It's why I hate this disease!

Similar to you, I really don't drink,
Yes, I will have the occasional, social drink or on my birthday I may have a few margaritas, or at dinner if someone offers a nice pinot noir, then I might indulge but I really have to be in the mood.
This might sound like a lot of different daily occasions but really it's not, maybe once a month if that much.
When I was younger, yes, but I use to drink to any occasion but I think I burned myself out I think.
Something that really bothers me is a hangover, it just pisses me off to feel like shit and waste another day due to it all because of alcohol...
Someone close to me has a problem with it, it runs in their family but they just can't see the forest for the trees.
I have taken all the BS that I am going to take from it and paid all that I am going to pay...sometimes I think it might help this person for me to be out of their life.
I may be the enabler I believe.
I have stated my piece with this person and they just don't want to admit it or they dismiss it as a joke but it is far from a joke.
It takes a lot to quit, I know that from battling with nicotine, but alcohol changes peoples minds, their bodies and their mental states, their reality...it can be a really shitty ride for all of those involved...
