How about dont worry about the clutch for now. Get a system installed and running and go from there. Power goals are a silly way to go about it. Just get it running and keep the boost down. six or eight psi will be fine and you'll be quite happy with it. If the clutch starts to slip, take care of it then.

Its like the guys that go through the entire engine, spend a shit load on forged parts and all kinds of fancy crap they dont need and run it with about 8 psi just like they could have on a stock engine. Its a backwards way to go.

Did you ever find the time to install the new clutch?

Or did I lose a bunch of posts somehow? :dunno:

I need some input on new clutch.....

Post by QBANG »

Guys I need some help, I need to get a clutch this week. As it turns out UUC is having a 15% off sale right now. I talked to Rob, he said that I sould go with the Segmented Kevlar. If I understood right TCD just burnt one up. This will be going in my E30 M30b34 swap car. Looking for ideas.

I think Todd was just putting down mid 12s last weekend with that "burnt" clutch.

That is not correct. Todd hasn't tried the segmented kevlar clutch yet. I've been using one in the 228mm size for years and its holding ~400rwtq without a problem. I treat it right, I dont put any heat into it. Your results may vary depending on how you run the car.
