Pics of my M535i after paint, before recovering the cloth seats and other interior work. Replaced the dash while the windshield was out for paint (best time to do that, what a time saver!). Car still needs some minor rust repair underneath, but after stripping the body down, I only found a couple rust spots under the front and rear window trim, and on the back of the trunk lid. This car also had the fender parking lights, which were removed and covered over, so those holes need to be filled. Will post additional photos as the project unfolds.

Mondy, great work on the car, looks like a nice example. I assume its the dirty motor, great. Your post really deserves and belongs in its own thread in eye candy. Not in someone elses sale posting. Cool car. Welcome to the forum

Yep, it's the cat motor. Wish it was the dirty motor, as it would be more of a beast. I'll start a new thread once I get it where it should be, but so far...

It was suggested THREE MONTHS AGO that you go make your own thread for YOUR car and stop adding to this thread, yet for some reason you can't bring yourself to do that. I'll never understand it.

MAKE YOUR OWN THREAD!!!!!!!

If I was a Beamter, I'd have split it off by now and done it for you since you seem to be so unwilling to let this one die.

Oh, and on the first page, someone asked why someone would take the "clean engine" no-cost option. Well, I was living and working in Belgium in 1986 and I would drive to/through Germany nearly every weekend (in my E30 316 company car). And the way the trees drooped in the Black Forest was absolutely visible and nearly catastrophic. I know this was a Japan-market car, but certainly many Germans were taking the clean-engine option, and I have no doubt the environmentally-conscious Japanese, who were also feeling the effects of the acid rain problem, did the same thing more often than one might expect. When I continued visiting Germany in the 1990s, the trees were largely restored and now you just see solar on most buildings and wind turbines lining the highways...

All DC89 Japanese-market M535s had the 8:1 motor, so they didn't have a choice. Good insight into the Europe angle and reasoning behind those choices.
