Saw your thread update, congrats on getting those in and I'm glad my adventures helped you!
Regarding this thread, I'm not ignoring Vlad's interior completely, but am not focused on it it for now. The M30B35 project and then the euro bumpers come first. I have acquired a set of rear headrests and am working on getting an MTech 2 steering wheel.
Still undecided on how much, if any, color I'll use when I recover the dash and other components.
I realize now I never updated this thread with my lighted shift knob install.
I bought this one on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-Illuminated ... 51a7e5dbe1
I powered the new shift knob via the wires that light the ashtray. I had some appropriately colored wire from a tail light harness I chopped out of a parts car, including a nice little connector. Here's where I tested that my wiring actually worked.
Here you can see how I wired it up. I had to take the boot completely apart, pulling the little two part plastic sleeve that the shaft goes through apart so the wires could go on the OUTSIDE of the sleeve; it was too tight to have them go between the sleeve and the shift rod.
Ta-da!
This picture was really hard to take. Even with the camera just sitting on the driver's head rest in timer mode my breathing in the back seat was enough to cause a little movement.

I put one of those in my previous car; they're really sweet and add a nice accent.

Love the look! Now for some ambient lighting from under the seat or the dash to set it off. Nothing uber bright, but color matched would look really nice.

Not only did Vlad just get a new engine, clutch, flywheel, and short shift kit, he also got a new steering wheel.

Latest glam shot.
Since I started this thread, I've changed my tune a bit. Originally I wanted to do quite a bit of red high-lights, but given the E34 seats I put together don't need new leather at all, I'm going to stay subtle.
I now have an upholstery shop identified (All City Convertibles & Customs in Kirkland); they did the work on this guy's 911 restoration:

I'm going to hold off until either I have to replace Vlad's windshield or the tiny dash cracks get huge, but when the time comes I will have the dash and center console leather wrapped.

Thank God the seats don't need recovering.

Hi, I followed the instructions posted by Cek to fit sport driver seat with memory module and now it works (the memory function itself is not currently working; when I press 1, 2, or 3, the actuators in the seat move, but I cannot get "program" to work).
With power/ground supplied as shown the seat controls and heat all work (except leg extension which requires other wires to be hooked up).
What is the right connection to make the leg actuator running?
