80HP? I'll have you know there were 90HP and even some 95HP SC models. Of course the early ones were joked about as 40HP and $4K back when that was an expensive car.

Overall I've got to agree, they weren't very fast, not that there isn't more to a car than that, but still. Now an early 911 I could get enthuiastic about.

I suspect it is either Venetian Blue (Veneziablau) or Diamond Blue, which were both mid-late-80's Porsche colors. They are close to each other and BMW's Arktisblau.

The 365 appears richer and bluer, but i know from experience that my 911 changes richness depending on light. It looks like these 356 pics were taken in the evening with ideal light.

Regardless, I want my 528i's color to look exactly like that 356.

It was about 8pm CST, and it was indeed a bit bluer "in the flesh" than the Venetian (love your 911 btw). Paint finish quality was amazing. Obviously my iPhone doesn't fully do it justice, but it was a treat to see.

There is a ritzy steakhouse in the first floor of my office building, and it's not uncommon to come across Bentleys, Ferraris, 911 Turbos, etc. parked out front in the evening. That 356 (I think a 1957 or '58, but I'm not an expert) was a real show-stopper.

Saw an E9 on the Hutch in NY late this afternoon, sorry couldn't take a picture.

Passed by a white Ferrari 458 Spider on Woodlands Parkway this morning. No time for a picture, there are plenty on the internet.

I've actually got a bunch I've been saving up, but here's one from today. Spotted at our local free music in the plaza series, an older guy in his 60s I'd guess with a very old and frail Mother. Walked up to take a pic just as they were leaving and someone else said somewhat reverentially, that's Mr. Gerdes, he owns a junkyard. Turns out he does, specializes in 50s-70s domestic iron only. Suspension creaked a bit as he backed out, brakes have supposedly been done, but he was out driving it. I think it would be safe to say, unrestored. And man were those suckers big. Measure the length not in inches or cm, but yards.

At the BMW CCA PNWR event today (which was on Mercer Island this year instead of Kirkland and had a really lame turn out):











Stunning. It was restored in 1988. It belongs to the elderly lady you see behind it in the first pic. She was awesome.

In other news, Vlad was literally the nicest and cleanest E28 in the entire show. I'm 100% sure that if I had gotten there in time to register for the concours I would have won the E28 class.

This was in Spring Valley (big surprise). I diidn't check but I'm pretty sure it has the Hello Kitty calipers and rotors.

Passed an S60R on the interstate today.

Reading on them....Christ....I'm glad I didn't try to goose it.

Saw this being built at a shop I was working at today.

2jz turbo in an e30 Baur. Custom wheels, reinforced body, gonna be pushing a lot of horsepower.

Guy that is commissioning it asked them to build an e24 baja rig next.

He's got a few sitting around apparently.

It's been something of a Citroen weekend. While on a walk last night we saw two Citröen XMs at the same house; the path we were on ended in the back yard of some house where an XM sedan was parked (looked like it had been sitting for a while), and there was an XM wagon parked on the street out front. They are a pretty handsome car in person. Then this morning we saw someone driving to church in a 2CV. Then this afternoon we flew to Amsterdam, and outside Schiphol we saw someone loading suitcases into the boot of a very well-kept DS. I only had a camera with me for the DS, but haven't taken the time to grab the photo from it yet. I miss my iPhone.

Taking guesses on what this is, Bueller...? Bueller...?



This was parked down the street around the corner at one of the two auto body shops left in this corner of town. Both shops tend to get some really unusual cars to work on.
This one is under a restoration (albeit not a good one).

Yep. It's been in pieces at this shop for years now. It looks like they're getting around to putting back together.

Spotted the classic "Family Truckster" Ford station wagon on the road today, but couldn't snap a pic. Think of National Lampoon's "Vacation" movie and you'll know the one I'm referring to.

Acres of faux wood down the sides. The thing looks like it was designed by a bunch of 8th graders as a shop class assignment. How something like that gets green lighted to production is a mystery to me.

Did it have eight headlamps?
