Oy Vey! PF Bushing install....
I wanted to share my install experience today.Just finished installing the last of the poly bits I ordered from MonsterCntye34. (Unbeatable price/support) I bought Front UCA/LCA, and rear subframe polyurethane bushings. I'm whooped! I don't even have the energy to test drive the girl. Those Rear SF's were a biatch! BFH's/Heat and a mean green Hitachi sawzall finally convinced them to leave their decades old home. I scored the subframe interior bushing housing where I used the sawzall but it was minimal. Install of the SF bushings was a snap. Anyway, all the tips and tricks I gained through the search feature on this website gave me the confidence to tackle this job. I refuse to bring this car to a shop anymore, given the ability to do it myself. (with a Bentley and mye28 @ my disposal)

pf bushing
Update. Finally was able to take the mighty minnow for a test ride. It was not my typical ride to work, I assure you. The HNV( correct acronym??) was a bit elevated in the N(oise) dept because my rear seats were still out, but otherwise I didn't notice any fillings flying out because of H. Make no mistake, this is a different car. I wont cliche it by saying it "rides on rails", but there is confidence in the turns, and it seems quicker for some reason?? I walked into the house after 11p the other night w my victory smile. The whole house was asleep while I happily picked the smelly rubber bits out of my hair and cleaned my greasy fingernails. This is not an easy job. I was beat the first day, trying to figure out why the bushing pins would not budge. Back to the search engine: SOAK and HEAT (soak meant time/patience. So I went to bed. Hit it hard the next am, determined to tackle this w/o dropping the SF. And the pins, one after the other, finally let loose. Pins removed, the job progressed just like the Front U/LCA's. There has got to be a term for the feeling after successfully completing these maintenance projects. There are highs and lows, frustration and triumph. But I gotta say the SF Merit badge of achievement allows me to plan my next project. Gotta start looking around for things that need fixin'!

OK, as I've admitted before, I don't own a BMW, just a fan squirlling away the fun funds until I can afford a toy.
Am I missing something fundamental?

It seems to me that it would make more sense to rent one of these

Rather than to take heat and sawzall to my car.
What am I missing?

Enlightenment please, even though I'm sure I'll feel stupid afterwards.
The BMW Acronyms thread must be kept up to date, no matter the cost.

Re: pf bushing
It's not BMW. It's a general automotive engineering design term for "Noise, Vibration, and Harshness", referring to ride quality.1st 5er wrote:mpowertech wrote:HNV( correct acronym??)![]()

No, you are absolutely correct. I just couldn't put aside the +/- $350.00(Tool deposit(refund upon return)/rental fee) on my CC for the rental, or believe me I would have. I'm sure this would be a much shorter post if I had gone that route.WilNJ wrote:OK, as I've admitted before, I don't own a BMW, just a fan squirlling away the fun funds until I can afford a toy.

For more fun, and to complete the bonding process, change your starter.

Yah, X2 or 3. I forget , But it is a once in a car life event. And the price of keeping a 25 yr old car in good shape. I did both to the Borman 6 and put 200k on a 150k mile car. Never did that before. Plus, I maintained it to near perfect reliability in my driveway!djazz wrote:1st 5er wrote:

Did both on Old Gray, and that was my favorite.
So it must be true.
