Yesterday I installed the BMW CCA badge thanks to Greg E34:
And today I discovered that my odometer quit working.
Now I guess I'll have to do the SI board too while I'm in there. Ya know what else sucks? I could have gotten the gears much cheaper buying them from Paul this past weekend who was also representing odometergears.com.

You might still can - check with Paul or Jeff directly re: the Vintage special.
Had yokohama advan s4 put on style 32s today and I love both the looks and the handling! Need to roll rear fenders but the tires only rub on large dips or speed bumps. Pictures will be taken this afternoon.
Put the cobbled together Boysen muffler/ Ansa 535i resonator. I Bought a new -used Boysen from Rexmo back in 04' It was slowly turning into mulch on the Borman6. The Bosal CB on BB Shiftless was toast , so I harvested it. dabbed the last of my JB weld on the worst spots, caulked others with High Temp RTV Install was done using 2 1/2" grade 2 5/16 hardware. and about 20' of waxed poly lashing cord. for hangers. One of the cat flanges was broken, so I wire wheeled the pieces. and used a large hose clamp to hold it together. I tapped the clamp into shape with a sfh, my tappity 4 oz ball peen. Then, I bled the brakes. The fluid looks brand new. But the soft pedal is still there. The car is Marina's DD. We've had it 5 yrs and have put 70k miles on it. . Time for some maintenance. I picked up 2 sets of 535l front rotors @ VoV The set I got from Todd B rotors are pretty rough after 5 yrs of use.. Soft pads, brake hose , new rear lines are being contemplated. I had a good time rebuilding the 533i's front calipers, so I'm gonna try it again.
Ambitious.
I punted on the odometer gears for the 533 so I washed it and threw the cover over it.
I used some contact cleaner on the E34 RR window switch that was intermittant. So, the punch list that was disclosed on the E34 is now cleared:
ACS-bowden cable fixed it
Seatback cable-fixed (thanks Paul)
RR window- dirty switch fixed
I replaced the valve cover gaskets and sprayed the VC with some high-temp silver to spruce it up earlier today.
Next up- replacing the radiator and thermostat housing.
Did some research on the board and fixed my surging problem on the M535i. Replaced the ignition coil. Thanx Killer PM. She is now rockin and rolin for the next trip which will be Vintage at Saratoga the weekend after Tedfest.
Replaced AFM rubber boot that had a hairline crack which was causing the lack of idle on my 325i.
Total time spent under hood was less than it took to open the package and I do believe more time was actually spent drinking beer and looking for my 311 cd. Wife (girlfriend) walking past as I was finishing up so I asked her to turn the key to check it out. It seems I am an automotive GOD and tiger's blood pulses throughout!
Removed the cluster and re-soldered all the connections. Only took 6x to catch all the cracked solder joints. Looks like the SI lights are working as they should. Finally.
Brake lining light was flickering. Figured it was the front, but it was the rear set. PO left the wires too long, rubbed against the inside of the rim, making the light flicker. Fixed.
Fried the 059.. The 5V supply wire, which was chopped to provide 12V to the MAF, never got heat shrinked, and it grounded out to something in the glovebox and now I have no TPS signal, which explains the horrible missing/running issue that surfaced yesterday.Traced it back to the unsheilded wire. So much for that reco'd ecu..

I haz a good Programma you can have...I'm switching the 533 to M1.3 as soon as I get around to it.
I know you're in OZ, but I'll drop one for you if you can't find any down there.
Was going to do a compression test today, haven't got there yet. Instead I replaced the alt belt as the light was coming on, only to find later that the alt needed a new brush kit. One good thing out of this, I found my steering pump inboard line leaky due to a OEM clamp being stripped. And the alt belt did need to be changed also, I may yet get the comp test done before nightfall yet. Well I ran out of time. But she starts like a hot damn and no battery waring light! YEAH!
I felt it was time to start the process of putting my E28 back on the road. It has been sitting since 5er Fest 2008. The oil pan gasket was leaking more oil than the Exxon Valdez so that was the first item on my list.
Yuck!
A few of the parts are bit cleaner now…
And then I thought I should do something fun with the car so these went on next. Thank you Mooshead!
Yesterday, changed the oil in it (and the 735i.) While it was up in the air I took the time to take a closer look at the front suspension; torn boots on the UCAs, LCAs, and dogbones. And figured out that the groan that I sometimes get when turning the wheels is coming from those dry dogbone ball joints.
That means I have another front suspension rebuild in my future! The wife will be thrilled.
I changed the oil, changed the fuel filter, installed my strut brace, and installed the poly-filled dff mount. I've
got SS brake lines and poly-filled subframe bushings left to go.
Last week I installed Moosehead UCABs. All the front-end vibes are gone. Screw Lemforder and Meyle. My "HD" Lemforders only lasted ~3 years.
Fuel filter, stainless hose clamps and filter/pump bracket hardware.
PS21'd the wheels, as usual weekly summer routine.
This finally concludes my 2.5 week Inspection I process...now to find another oem antenna instead of another EBay Hirschmann 1.25 year life contemporary replacement, grrr.....
