so i put the key into the lock outside and try to lock all the doors, they lock then unlock again right away? it does this in the drivers door and the trunk.... the passenger side usually works though?
Mine was doing the same thing after replacing several old cracked door lock knobs with new ones from BavAuto. What I finally realized was the the knobs were longer than the stock ones and hitting something on the way down that immediately triggered them to raise again. The way you can quickly tell if this is the problem is to unscrew the knobs a bit and raise them or remove them completely for a moment. If the problem goes away then that's your root cause. I permanently fixed my problem by trimming away the bottoms of the new knobs until they were the same length as the OEM knobs.
Mine does this with the central locking with the remote. Sometimes the locks will pop up due to the drivers side lock staying up when the rest lock. But occasionally (as of now, knock on wood lol) the system has been working nice for awhile. Does this sound like an actuator problem or possibly something else electrical.
Sounds to me like the drivers door actuator is sticking or getting sticky. You could swap in another one (driver's door is unique p/n: 51261375953).e34 530 wrote:Mine does this with the central locking with the remote. Re: automatic locks
Had the same lock and unlock problem -from trunk and drivers door lock.mabman wrote:so i put the key into the lock outside and try to lock all the doors, they lock then unlock again right away? it does this in the drivers door and the trunk.... the passenger side usually works though?
If the fuse trick above doesn't work, try this:
Because the mechanism on the end of my drivers door lock barrel broke, thought it was related to that. When I swapped out tumblers and removed the entire locking mechanism from the door, discovered a spring (about 3/4 inch in diameter with 2 revolutions of wire) had broken in the main linkage mechanism that helps keep resistance against the lock mechanism and ultimately the actuator. I had to fabricate the spring (weekend adventure) and this solved the problem. Nothing else was changed. Although removing the locking system seems ominous, it's quite simple and goes back in, unbelievably, just as easily. Worth cleaning if you have never done so.
